what mph should i read on my speedo with the 3 inch pulley at like 7 grand in all the gears? and does anyone have the gear ratios??

but yea, 7krpms is 7krpms.

1st gear is like 40, 2nd is around 72, 3rd is around 110, these are estimates but are prett close.

 

Ratios:

1- 3.38
2- 1.76
3- 1.18
4- 0.89
5- 0.7

Speeds @ 7k w/stock (or stock-size) rims and tires:

1st - 39
2nd - 75
3rd - 111
4th - 148 (stock and S2 are limited to 147 IIRC)
5th - 188 (theoretically anyway, takes a good amount of power to top out at 188).

My redline in second gear only goes to 65 at 7200...

either your speedo is off because of different size tires, or the engin is revving so quickly at that speed that the speedo is off, or the redline is different, which i don't think it is.

 

Dunno. I am on stock tires. Talked to another redline owner and he redlines at 65 as well. Speedo off that much? I would not think so. Or is it only off at wide open throttle?

 

I believe redlines have different tire sizes. It's not that the speedo is off but that you get less distance per rpm of the motor, therefore lower speed at 7k rpm. I haven't actually checked the IRL tire size so I could be wrong but I think that's why it's like that.

Top Speed in 1 gear = 37.009 MPH
And changes into 2 gear at 3645 RPM dropping 3355 RPM

Top Speed in 3 gear = 106.008 MPH
And changes into 4 gear at 5280 RPM dropping 1720 RPM

According to this the IRL should top out at 71mph in 2nd, and the SS/SC at 73.6mph.

Still top out in second at 65

 

Take 2nd gear to redline slowly vs. wot and see if there is a difference. If there's any lag, that'll show it. It's simple math - there's either a difference in gearing between the two, or a defect in the instrumentation.
