What You Need to Know about Intake's for 05-07 Cobalts
Well I saw for another post that someone wanted an about post made on intakes.
To start with Im not to keen on the LNF's intakes as I dont have one but here is how I sit on the Intakes that are currently out.
If your wanting to go cheap on an intake, I would NOT recommend it as it will just cause issues. Go with a company that had specifically done the research for our cars.
My personal preferance on intakes to start would be the Injen intake as they dyno tune with thier intakes and they are made very well can normally be found anywhere from 215-260 dependent on your model and for the 2.2 and 2.4 peeps they can be use as a short-ram if you go with the MR series.
Next would be the ZZP intake not from what I noticed they only make the intake for the LSJ and it runs about 200 dollars, good bang for your buck. They have also researched this and it doesn't rub on the 07' brake lines and it comes with a K&N Filter also very nice. WWW.ZZPerformance.COM
OTTP also has a great intake which you can either get in polished or raw material. The way Ottp has it setup is that you can select your options. The intake is 205 to start then you can add a meth tap for 17 dollars, and you can get polished for 40 more dollars than the raw. The filter with them is a 55 dollar option for a true K&N filter with water-shield pre-filter. WWW.OTTPERFORMANCE.COM
Right now I'm running the Weapon-R Intake which I purchased off of E-BAY and it came with a PCV Breather filter and the cleaning solution for the filter. I payed 165 for the intake and like I said you don't want to go cheap with this the fitment of this intake is horrible it makes the inner fender buldge out and when you hit bumps it rubs the tire. This is not an intake that I would recommend.
AEM also makes a decent intake which re-uses your upper intake pipe and uses thier dry-flow filter. I think the cheapest I have found one was about 260ish and its just for the lower portion of the intake.
These are the intakes that I have found through my research and the choice is yours and another thing I would also recommend is to get an intake with MAF provision. The intakes I have listed have the MAF provision on them but some of the cheaper intakes out there do not. Now with the intakes you do not normally need a tune from stock and remember that your fuel trims with be off more than likely by 7% so for the performance minded I would recommend tuning after install.
It has come to my attention that some people have not had issues with the ebay intake. I have seen them anywhere from 60 to 100 dollars on ebay for these and most have maf provisions.
The Fujita intake is also avaiable and comes with a dufflebag and some other stuff normally seen for about 299 and comes in polished, black, and krinkle black finishes. http://www.f5air.com/
You also have the RD Fabs intake which is 235 for your choice of generic filter colors and 275 for a genuine K&N filter. These are stainless steel and polished to a high shine. http://www.rdfabs.com/20ecocobsssc_caint.php
In regards to the raw Im unsure of this intake the only thing I could find was the RD Fab
If I left anything out just let me know and I will change the post.

Not to pick on your thread, but your Fujita link does not send you to Fujita Intakes. I believe the Fujita intakes for the Cobalt only came polished. I know Fujita uses other colors for special editions, but they were all for Acuras & Hondas.
Also, there are a million threads on intakes for the Cobalt SS/SC already

But your saying its not rocket science (which it isn't) but is does take REAL engineering to make them a benifit to the car. So its not as simple as bending a pipe and slapping a filter on the end.
Sounds easy but you can see the AEM/Injen/Hahn and others have been giving LNFs (for example) codes and issues.
