Talking What's Ur Coolant Temprature

Hello everybody with an LSJ Cobalt SS

What's ur engine coolant temprature when ur car is idling ? and what is when cruising ? Another question is there a overflow hose in the coolant system at all ?

The reason i'm asking is because on my old engine my coolant temp while cruising was about 180-190 now it hovers between 190 and 200...Is this normal ?

Thanks for the info

If it gets to high and it bothers you while sitting still, turn the ac on. Works for me.

or just have your tuner change your fan controls.

My Tuner changed my fan controls to turn on at a higher percentage earlier on. So my temps never go over 190.

Yeah mine hovers in the 170° to 195° range normally but in bad traffic it's gone up to 220° without AC on mind you.

Turning on your AC just adds more load to your engine. Rule #1 of the driving in traffic was never turn on the AC, it was turn off the AC and open the windows and in dire situations turn on the heat.

Mine likes to hang out between 180-185.

Edit. Opps LSJ section. Reading > me. I guess that's what happens when you just got off from working 12 hours of night shift.

I have the SS/TC now, but on my LSJ my coolant would go to 205 at idle, and normal cruising tempature was around 175-185.

While crusing my coolant temp is usually at 181*-183*F on average. On a hot day i'll see 185*-187*F. On a cool day i'll see 176*-178*F. At idle my temps don't rise too much. It all depends how long you idle for, and what the outside temps are.

The reason turning the AC on is recommended is because it forces the fans to turn on. They actually do a very good job of cooling things down, despite the AC adding extra load.

That is correct. Sometimes, I turn the AC on just to cool down the car. Especially when I am waiting in line or at a light for a long time.

Mine is 80-82 Celsius cruising.. On a really hot day sitting at idle or in the drive through I've seen it go as high as 101

i got a L61 but my temps when i hit boost gets up to like 225-230 but then goes back down to about 200. i dont know why, or how to fix it. i tried using that water wetter and no luck, i had vince set my fans to 50% before 145, then 100% after and still not going down to normal.. i think its because my damn turbo since its coolant cooled as well. can i run it without the coolant lines hooked up?

Sounds like this turbo would have to be hooked up to its own coolant circuit then... instead of sharing the engines coolant.

Any pics of this setup?
