Exclamation Wheel Hop??????

I am finally about to purchase a cobalt and I am torn between the ss/sc and a n/a ss! But that's not the point of this thread,....I was actually wondering if those of you with the ss/sc with the g85 ls diff. are experiencing wheel hop! I would think that with the ls diff. there wouldn't be much wheel hop if any...is this correct? and also, what are the g85's running bone stock? I am at about 1800 ft. above sea level so if anyone is near that elevation and has run a g85 what did you run in the 1/4 mile????

LSD doesnt seem to have made a huge difference with wheel hop
though it has made differences in other areas (well worth its cost IMO)

but people have had some pretty impressive success with tractionbars/ torque dampers

and all but eliminated wheel hop.

id guestimate youd run mid 14's at that altitude.

though driver/practice/breakin/trackprep/temp among another 100 factors will effect the time.

the question between the na and sc aside from the MRSP basically falls down to what you want from the car.

if you seriously intend to mod. you should lean towards the ss/sc. not that the na engines arent good. but the aftermarket for the SC is always
going to me more extensive.
not to mention starting with more HP from the factory sure helps

I probably wouldn't be able to run mid 14's @ first simply do to driver...never owned a standard even though I know how to drive one...a little heavy on the clutch at times

what areas do the g85's make more difference in????

While turning and giving it gas. Especially in rain.

I just put that Ingalls Dampener on my SS. I got a small amount of hop today for the first time since I installed it.

I LOVE to listen to the Supercharger spin up in my SS. People here it and start looking around to see what the HELL it is.

The LSD is more for cornering. I've driven a non-G85 and you can tell the difference while apexing in corners from the G85. I like my G85! The Recaro's are nice too, they keep you from sliding around in your seat. As for wheel hop, the rest of the people posting got that one nailed with the torque brace.

I think the Torque brace is only a temporary solution. If you really want to stop the problem go with poly motor & trans mounts and poly control arm bushings. That should take care of the wheel hop.

I agree that poly motor mounts are the best. since i have put my ZZP billet poly mount on i have had 0 wheel hop, and the vibes aren't that bad. I have yet to try to get wheelhop on a wet road, yeah, i want it to rain so i can do the test. Oh, and buy the SS/SC if ya wanna mod, nothing like the sound of the SC with a CAI.

Man, do you not read? Its been posted MANY times that it does not improve 1/4 mile times. Its a 80/20 package, not a 50/50 one. As everyone else said, its more for cornering. You quote me although like 5 other people have said the same thing, research before you speak, thanks.

From what I have heard there is a bit more vibration. I have sat in a car with the ZZP poly mounts and didn't notice that much of a difference from stock vibration wise.

I'd like LSD at the track for the more even heat cycling of tires. I wouldn't have to sit in the box and turn back and forth, back and forth.....
