Ok, i know this has been beaten to death, but:

How much wheel hop does it take to actually cause damage?

and

how do you check for damage?

Axles will go first, and they are quite fragile so repeated wheel hop will break them for sure. If you do wheel hop very often (learn how to drive if you do ;P ), you could even damage the motor mount...

In truth, it only requires one hop to cause damage. You just gotta stay outta the hop as much as you can, and hope for the best.

I hadn't experienced any wheel hop problems until it started getting cold here... the tires grip fine in the warmer weather... but when it's cold and a little damp, these tires don't grip for ****... had to alter my driving style a little for the cold... hopefully shouldn't happen again.

Hey SuperEco06, to answer your question, if you crack the trans case, you will know right away. In a worst case, it will sound horendous. In a best case, you will leave a puddle of trans fluid under the car. As far as the axles go, again you will know right away. Personally, I got rid of the wheel hop so I did not have to deal with it.
