Being that I manage a shop, how would they know if everything was installed properly and running like it should without a test drive. I'm not condoning havin gyour car's ass kicked for 20 miles, but one or two hard runs would be necessary just to make sure everything works like it should when you go to stomp on it. It would really suck for them not to test drive it, have you take it, stomp on it and then something weird happens. Test drives are normal. They can get out of hand, but then the tech (at least mine do) would lose his/her job. Relax. It is a necessary evil.

well you said that it took you 30 min to install it. you want to break in the cat by putting 500 miles on it. hows about you drive down to south texas and help me put mine on. that will give you the 500 miles for sure.

Leave the poor cat alone... damn people... cruelty to animals much. First he wants to stomp on it, then you want him to "break it in." You people are just twisted. God!

oh and I know when I was working at Just Brakes we would dog the hell out of performance cars on test drives. Gotta seat those brakes properly ya know.

Actually, no. Most dealerships and service departments will NOT let you ride along on a test drive for liability reasons.

Liability as in if they crash then I sue them for hurting me?
Yikes. I'm not having them test drive them.
