Who is selling HPTuner cheap...Plus dont know how to tune
Hey guys I would love to tune my own car but dont know how. Who can give a newbie instructions as well as where to buy HPTuners cheap. Thanks.
cant buy it cheap. The only way to buy it would be 505 shipped. You can buy it off of a member for like 300 but that would be with no credits and then you would have to buy credits for 100 to register your car. I other words it wouldnt be wroth it.
Im out
LAZ.
Im out
LAZ.
The one before that i saw (while ago) on ebay thats started at 2, ended at 430 or something like that..
Really, if you can get it for sure that cheap, do so, but remember the reserve price, they can elect not to sell it if it doesnt reach a certain amount..
And this isnt something you just plug in, and switch some settings... its mathematically based, and you need to be very careful on what you do. www.bobstuningschool.com i think is the site (if not do a google for bobs tuning school) and that will get you on the right track...
do ALOT of research before you even buy, take a look at some screen shots to see if you even wanna bother learning it.

.....
Im guessing thats because you didnt mess with any of the AFR numbers, timing, or anything of that sort yourself.
hitting the "max" button isnt really tuning...
how does hptuners know your mods? And what you have? Did you remove torque managment by hitting max hp? i Doubt it... If you put on a smaller pulley, the button isnt gonna know to adjust the afrs to run more efficiently..
Theres tons more than just a button, sir.
If you actually look into the program, there are mass amounts of tables with tons of information the PCM looks at.. like comparing RPM range with spark advancement... tons of ****...

i was joking wow.
yes i know the complications and maths behind it. Hell im even **** enough to tune the IVT.
My advice is do NOT disable torque management. Otherwise you can join everyone else with snapped axles and trannies. Up to you, but you have to pay to play if you go down that road. Wheel hop is the cause of the axles breaking (usually) however torque reduction works faster than the operator. Also even if you dont snap and axle, a friend popped a hole in his tranny.

the whole torque thing... i dont know... i guess thats a personal preference...
but i dont think youll snap an axel with stage 2... if you have half an idea on what your doing.

but yea, listen to the car and dont be dumb.
Actually contrary to popular belief, drag radials will help you NOT snap an axle if you know how to drive.
The reason are axles snap is because of two things, wheel hop and wheel spin. Most of us have the wheel hop eliminated. We have to worry about wheel spin.
Basically what happens is when we launch on stock street tire, they sit there and spin and then suddenly hook up. This sudden force of hooking up snaps the axle.
What drag radials do is eliminate the spinning and then hooking. They just hook right off the bat causing a lot less stress and strain on the axle.
Hope that helps with some of the confusion. Drag radials are a good thing!
To get back on topic though. It's really not that hard to learn how to tune. Basically you just have to learn it. Spend enough time reading and researching before you buy the program. What you want to be able to do is already know what your going to do, before you do it. Learn the simple stuff first, and work your way up. When you feel as if you have enough knowledge to use the program, purchase it and play with things.
I wouldn't buy it until reading a whoooole bunch first though. Otherwise you could buy it and have no clue whats going on and then end up reselling it like others.

Yep, unless you want to tune with trims only which sucks. lol
Do yourself a favor and get some tuning books. Search Amazon or some place like that. There are many to choose from and they all tell you the exact same thing. After you've educated yourself on tuning then decide if you want hp tuners or not. Tuning is not difficult if you educate yourself.

tuning with trims is fine for under 6900 hz. Infact i prefer it, after that though... you NEED a wideband or you have to calculate the fuel gain per hz mathematically adding 3% for safe measure.
