What do you guys think would be the widest tire you can put on teh stock SS/SC rim? They are 7.5 wide right? Would 225's fit?

i have 235 40 18 and they fit with no problem. anything wider and it would be a wise decision to go with a wider rim. But there is room for wider.

I have a question. I want the widest tire you can get on our stock rims, but i want to goa little more lower profile on the side walls. What size would that be? And what would be the best tire to get for overall rain/dry.

i have 225/40/18 Bridgestone Potenza RE950s

attn chevy powered
i need pics of your wheels, do you have any probs with the wider wheel?
what size tire? i am lowered and clearence is still pretty decent

with a little slight trimming a 245/45/18 will fit (test fit a set of 350z wheels that ironicly didnt fit the z)

I usually stick with the stock tire size but I see nothing I like in the 215/45/18 size not to mention that due to the rarety of that size they are $$$.

Anyone have pictures of some 225's on the stock rims?

Those are my wheels, I have had no problems with the size. I'm going to try to run some 245's in the spring with wheel spacers. I have the stock tires on the for right now. With it lowered it might be some issue since the do stick out quite a bit more than the stock ones do.

What is the widest width that we can fit without rubbing occuring as a daily driver, this is not limited to the factory rims. I see above that supposedly you can fit 240's maybe 245's with trimming on the factory rim, so am I correct in saying that the widest tire would then be 240 or 245 on rather a factory or aftermarket as the widest width?

I haven't seen this made clear in previous posts.

Thanks.

Also whats the take on speed ratings? Has or is anyone gone or going below z rated?

Stock wheels are W speed rated. Y rated are pretty common, and a few people have gone to true Z rated.

Here's a cheaper tire with much better ratings from the consumer.

235 will be less than 1% off from stock as far as revolutions per mile. You want to keep that as close as possible...
