Question is it worth the $

Hey all getting my stage 2 put on monday !

I also thinking about getting the stage 3 pulley to put on it. I heard that its safe op run it on the stage 2 flash, belt, injectors etc. I think i read it on here that gm said it was.

What im wondering is the stage 3 pulley is 2.99, not THAT much smaller then the stage 2 pulley and it cost like 100-120. Will it make that much of a difference ? Will i feel it ? What is it like 5-7 hp ? Is it worth the money ?

Also do i need the dual pass intercooler plate if i decide to go stage 3 pulley, for extra heat ?

I know what some of you might say, just go to a true 2.9 etc. But i want to mantain my warrenty, so as of now im sticking with gm parts.

so your question is about the 2.9 or is it worth the money?

lol.

yeah it's worth the money, in my eyes it's pretty cheap. i'd run 2.9 if i wasn't a *****, just stay away from the 2.8. if you are worried about the warrenty, stay away from any other changes...just keep the stage 2.

Get a 2.85" or 2.9" and just swap back to stage 2 if you need to take it in? That's what I would do if I were worried...

Cobalt addiction makes there 2.79 in marked with the same 77.9mm engraving on it so that it looks like the gm stage 2 pulley. That is what i used.

Worth is in the eye of the person who has the money to spend. It's a personal preference.

No other pulley besides the stage 2 pulley is coverd under the power train warranty. So really no matter what you do you will have to change it out for warranty work like Try2k said.

This is what I would do.^^But I think if you had a melt down I wouldn' t hold your breath for warranty.

Stage III would void powertrain warranty.

i was told that the stage 3 pulley is fine to run on stage 2, and WONT viod the warrenty.

Stage 3 only viod the warrenty because of custom rpm, and the the feature of NOS. No one will warrenty a car, that has a feature to use NOS, and im sur ethe high octane mode doesnt help either. I was told that since its a gm part i should be fine

There are also people on here who ru that set up and said that it does not viod the warrenty

The stage 3 kit voids your power train warranty from what I was told and I assume that includes the stage 3 pulley. IMO the best way for pulley swaps with the stage 2 is get what you wish and put the stage 2 pulley back on when you have to take you car in for engine work then there are no questions about your warranty being voided..

Quick question, with stage 2, what is the smallest pulley one could run without having to change fuel injectors, anyother supporting mods, and with the stage 2 tune?

Safely? I would say a 2.9" or a 2.85" at the lowest

I think the zzp pulley has a different bolt pattern... There is a guy on here that can make you one that will fit the stage 2 hub perfectly - a ton of people run his pullies (including me). He can make any size you want

nherbst454 - thats his tag
