is this worth it?

i simply wanna just replace my muffler on my 07 ss/sc. all the cat-backs are so expensive (but hella nice) and im not going for huge HP numbers i just want the sound. i was thinking that since it goes from 2.5" knocked down to 2.25" over the rear axel, how bad can replacing the 2.25" muffler be especially coming off of 2.5" sections in the exhaust? i only want a 2-3hp gain and aren't the GMPP kits completely 2.25" and still net considerable bolt on gains? i want to go as far as reusing the stock tailpipe and tip. im only looking for positive responses please. no negativity.

it sounds like you just want a nice sound.
go for it.

and if you think our catbacks are expensive, ask the caliber SRT4 folks how they are liking their new dodge catback, at a measley $1300

I'm considering doing this also, most likely with a Magnaflo muffler.

not to be a dick, but this has been done to death.

IIRC, the pipe is 2.4 before the axle, and then smaller after that, so your bbest bet is to have it cut off there and then fabbed up back
