I have an 07' SS/SC and never had a shift light before and for some reason tonight when we were racing I hit 7200RPM in 2nd and the light popped right before I was about to shift then went away.

I never knew we had them or maybe mine was broken from the get go?

Any ideas? thoughts?

 

Same thing has happened to me at redline at WOT a couple times.. Not too sure what it is... Just blinks orange on the display

 

Never had it happen on mine, but we do have a shift light.

 

whoa wtf i have an 07 ss/sc and never had no light come up lol and my rev is at 7400 but i usually shift at 7200 or 7300. umm so we have them but they dont work or what?

 

am guessing after bouncing ur rev. limiter for a bit it should turn on.

 

The light is there, but since this is a "performance" car, I don't think it's enabled because who wants to be told when to shift in a "performance" car? lol I've never had mine come on before, so i dunno

 

It comes on if you rev past a certain point...i think its 7600RPM or something...

I downshifted into 2nd at 80mph once instead of 4th and the tach snapped over redline and the light came on for a sec.

who the hell even revs all the way up?! u could float a valve and BOOM!!!

 

I haven't played with it myself to see if it works, but I believe there is an option to turn the shift light on at a certain rpm in HP Tuners.

Its under Engine --> Fuel Control --> Fuel Cutoff --> Misc --> Lamp RPM

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this though.

i herd u can do anything with the hpt! i need one lol but yeah anything over 7k with stock internlals is freaking asking for trouble

 

shouldn't come on in the ss/sc..just like the traction control light

ss/sc = full of lights that don't actually ever turn on lol

 

I read in another thread somewhere that it's an over rev light and it comes on at 7600rpm.. Mine blinks occasionally mid shift..

Yep, that's where it is. 383 is correct that it's an overrev light. I just looked at a stage 2 tune, it says 6500 RPM. It should be set 100 RPM over your DFCO RPM, but I'm assuming since it's not a light our car even uses they didn't change it to match the increased RPM limit.

I'm pretty sure it was originally intended to be an "ohshit you're hitting the rev limiter" light. It can probably be used as a shift light if you really wanted to, but I had a weird issue where my car would sometimes feel like it hit DFCO between 6500-7000 RPM (rev limiter 7200), and after changing the overrev light to 7250, it hasn't happened since. Possibly a coincidence but I still think that had something to do with it.

yes as was already staed we do have a shift light. and yes if you dont have gm stage 3 then it is an over rev light. if you have gm stage 3 it becomes a shift light also.
