yay broken valvetrain!

did the new timing chain tensioner replacement, and I guess it may have skipped a couple teeth on the timing. Anyways this is what i found so far.

a rocker arm somewhere in the valve cover, and it looks like part of a lifter?

Anyways. Whats the easiest way to fix this on a reasonable budget. Just want oem parts

intake valve
8 rockers
new lifters
headgasket
headstuds
fluids

i think thats all i would need correct?

What are the chances my vAlves are bent if I broke a valve adjuster? Or could I get by with retiming the engine and replace my broken valvetrain components ?

Mine did the 2 weeks ago. I didnt have any bent valves but 3 broken lifters. You could just replace the broken lifters and call it a day. But you will have to do some work to get them in.

thats a rocker and a lifter. I have no clue how installing a timing tensioner can lead to that, unless you did not install the tensioner and started the motor; but with the greatest respect I suggest you take it to a tech to fix. bad things have happened here. U want to be sure it doesnt get worse with things missed.

Would you be shocked if I told you I'm a 3rd year automotive tech. I'm almost positive I know what happened and it's my own fault. The tensioner wasn't extended when I put it in and it must of skipped a tooth or so

the new style tensioner does not need to be extended , just installed. it takes some pressure to install and turn the nut to engage the threads. its really simple.

what you have is going to be difficult I suggest you remove the front cover and replace the chain, along with other broken parts. sucks thats you have run into this problem. Its such a pita to service the front of the motor in the car, its almost worth it (but not quite) to drop the whole cradle/engine assembly to do the work. good luck

My tensioner wasn't loaded when I put it in. The first time I put the tensioner in and it didn't take any pressure to put it in.

This is exactly why I'm afraid to do the timing chain tensioner upgrade.
Unless some one can tell me how to make damn shure I don't jump timing.

my install of the new style tensioner went fine, you can take off the valve cover to ensure nothing "jumps" when you change it
