yes Question...
Nevermind that it will leave you stranded.... I have a ZZP belt but have not had any issues with poor wear - I definitely keep my eye on it after hearing so much negative feedback on it.
well it originally had 6 rips but I had to cut one thread off so it can fit my alternator so I lost 2 threads,I already ordered another one.It seems to be driving well Ill just stay out of wot
eh I daily with 4 ribs. And it really wont strand you if you lose the belt. I mean oil and water pumps are on the timing chain. You'll just be running with no boost and battery power only until you can get a new belt.
scratch that first bit I daily on 5 rib. I run 1 less than whatever you guys run.

I've heard that about the ZZP belts too. I think you'll be fine running it for now but I'd get it changed asap! Anyway you can change your alternator to run a 6 rib belt? I feel like cutting a new belt to make it fit isn't the best idea. Just my 2 cents.
Yeah if its the alternator keeping you from running the stock belt, thats silly. The ss/sc alternator is the cheapest ecotec alternator that autozone sells. And I swapped mine in an hour and 15 minutes in a dimly lit parking garage with minimal tools.
so you cut off one of the ribs on the belt and u dont understand why that could lead to another one falling apart? I think the answer is right in front of your eyes.

i think this is a belt quality issue and has nothing to do with the fact that a rib was already cut. jbody guys cut ribs of the stock ss/sc belts. I am running a stock belt with a rib cut off, and have a stage two belt with a rib cut off in my glove box at all times for insurance. But both of mine are GM belts, and i have not had any quality issues with it at all.
I dont care how many people have run their car with a cut belt before doing something like that is just asking for it to lead to failure, im not saying that that is the only possible answer but lets be honest here you cut into the belt and altered it and wondering why its falling apart, it just looks stupid to ask that.
Buy the GM one. Mine i've run over a year, and no issues and it was run like that before I bought the blower. If it was really an issue I would first see belt slip. If it becomes an issue I'll find an ss a/c compressor and ati damper.
