I heard the turbo spooling one second then boom it was like an explosion the whole car kind of shook. Oil pressure light went on immediately but the engine kept running.

Update. Still sourcing a block. Its a bitch finding just the block, or finding a parts only engine. W2's should be coming here in a few weeks and then il know what my timeline for finishing the build will be.

Alright, Guys i need your input on a few things here. Things that havent been done in a Delta platform 2.2L before.
So ive been doing a little bit of research here and ive found that the 07' L61 and LE5 possibly (I need to confirm this, Anyone?) have the same trigger wheel or atleast are removable unlike previous years for both platforms.

The Heads obviously bolt up being its a family of motors derived off of the L61's Block. 07's and earlier (08's have been in question) have a stout forged bottom end proved to be capable of putting down 350whp fairly reliably. The 07 LE5 engine can be sourced relativly cheaply (Found a 07 with 45k for $400), and with a cryo treatment on the rotating assembly id be more than comfortable with the bottom end with 350whp. Selling the head for a good core for porting and such should recoup some of whats spent for the motor.

This is just a thought. Since they mount the same, trans is the same ect. I cant really see why this couldnt be done i think it would be a great mod and experiment and make power with less boost. I do know the head will need to be ported to support the flow from taking bigger gasps.

Whats everyones thoughts? Possible? No?

Having done some more research it look like that it is true that the LE5 and L61 share the same 58x reluctor wheel on the crank. I see some questions about the how it is timed on the crank compared to the lsj, i have heard 12deg off. Does this apply to the difference in the LE5-L61 crank? That is my only real question, everything else seems to be a go for this.

I think the only way to find that out will be to have both motors and look into the cps sensor hole and both with a degree wheel on the crank and see where the timing home tooth comes though. At worse thought the 58x wheel is a standard 60-2 reluctor wheel that every stand alone in the world supports and is the most common aftermarket external wheels, so going external would be a piece of cake option.

Thats pretty much what ive gathered just looking for someone to back me up on it. Thank you. Now im wishing that i hadnt taken my junk blocks in for a whopping $26 of aluminum. Looks like im going to be going with the LE5 bottom end.

Im picking up a stock motor next week, working on getting my clutch setup together. Going with stock flywheel, ACT clutch disc, and stock pressure plate. Its a cheap temporary "band-aid" if you will, till i get a built block in the car. I am still going forward with the 2.4L bottom end, i want to get it preped over the spring make sure its 100% when i put it in the car.

Yeah i hate seeing it in the garage in pieces. I do however like the heated leather seats in the TBSS. I will miss that.

definitely interested to see how the LE5 bottom end goes

don't believe its been done in a delta before

:edit: nevermind there was the LE5/LSJ head build a few years ago back in an RL. would be nice to see an LE5/L61 build though in a delta

I'm going to pick up the two engines and compair the cranks to make sure it's truely just plug and play. I'm hoping more power with less boost.
