14s easily obtainable?
again the SS/SC guys running their **** where it don't belong. This is a 2.2 forum guys, no one cares what ur SS is running in the 1/4. If we did we'd post in ur forum...your **** does stink guys stop acting like it doesn't. ANYWAY back to the thread. Its all up to you man. You can do bolt on's and get into 14's but its very hard with out the tune. Even running the bottle is risky with out proper fuel ajustment(sp?). Just like the saying goes...if you wanna play you gotta pay.
I know for a fact that my **** does stink. We are just stating the obvious, I don't think that the 2.2 will go into the 14's with just bolt on's, especially without a god damn tune. Spray is the easiest way, even with a tune your pushing it. Is it the safest way? No, especially if it isn't tuned. Quickest way? Yes, but it's going to cost you. I am not even going to go with stuff that wears out. If you aren't going to tune then your engine will eventually die, not to mention axles/clutch/transmission. So many variables, wait it out till HPtuners comes out for you guys.

well, this is the only car i've actually been ''serious'' about modding, but i dont want to go all out and try running like 13s or something. mid to high 14s is really all i want(for now at least, i mean maybe when i get there i'll want more).
nitrous is a no-no for me, i dont know how to use it, and i really just dont like it. now, this may come out as condoning crazy street racing(i mean i gun it a little next to someone but i'd never go above 60 in acity, thats talking about the main road, i wouldnt go over 40 in residential areas) but what i run at the track, i want to run at the street(legally). i dont want to have to put crap in/on every time i run at the track to run what i want. you know ? i dont know. i'm probably just rambling.
now about cams, i dont know much about them, but is there somewhere that can install them? i wouldnt want to mess something up even trying, but what would i be looking at pricewise for installation?
right now i'm in the middle of the tuning venture, i've done the basics(exhaust/intake), i know i'll get cams/tune later, but i dont know about now. mounts? dp/header? short shifter maybe? intake manifold?

If I were you, which I am not. I would go with "feel" mods. Stuff that makes the car more fun to drive, you don't always have to go fast in a straight line. Get some suspension **** on there. I drop 600 on suspension, and have no regrets. It doesn't void my warranty and it puts a smile on my face every time I hit the twisties.
Topics like this always end up with an arguement...
Listen, not being rude at all torwards you but the only honest answer someone can give you is to keep modifying and see if it works. I mean, no one can say "with this and this you'll reach 14s!" cause there are just too many factors that revolve around you reaching a certain 1/4 mile time.
So lets just end the whole bitch fighting back and forth about what this car can and can't do cause it's pointless and it typically gets no where. When you start getting more involved with modifying and cars in general, there isn't always an answer to every question...some things you just have to figure out by trial and error.

I love you SS guys. You give a lot of great advice. Please stop talking down on the 2.2L.
Who has installed nitrous on their LS or base? How is it working out for you?
Nomoreavril, when I get some time Ill send you some PM's and we will come up with a plan for your 14's. I have an 07 so I am about to Tune it with HPTuners when it gets here. But with my bolt ons and Gm Reflash I am hitting Mid to low 15's out at Ennis. And thats on the crappy stock continental tires. Who knows maybe I could get it down to 15 flat with the Volk wheels and Nitto Neogens that I want.Need them anyway. Im putting down to much hp/tq for these tires. Anytime I hit the gas in first or second Im extremely likely to light them up. And I am scratching in third almost constantly now when Im not driving conservativly which is like always. Anyways its time to rotate the tires and Ive only got 3800 miles on the car. Yeah these stock tires are crap.

It ends up in an argument because you guys feed into it and argue back. Sometimes you guys should just learn to ignore people.

haha not to be rude but volk 4-lugs are a joke...volk rims are made for performance cars...they are wider and lighter than almost any wheels made...and for you to spend 600-800 for a wheel..for a 4 lug wheel is just insane...enkei, 5zigen, hell bbs wheels might even be a better choice...if you are going for a straight show car then yes "WASTE" the money.
Ok, my 04 Cavi. WAS running 14's with the 2.2 eco N/A with NO SPRAY! The best I got was a 14.5 ask Adam (NJHK) he'll tell you! So a 2.2 ECO CAN run 14's N?A NO problem!
I did it for 2 years.
Heres what you need to do.
Intake, Header, Hi flow cat, I had 2.5 inch exhaust but 2.25 should do just fine. Port match the header, the intake manifold and the head. Run poly mounts, get a short throw shifter
and this is important! Get adjustable struts! Set the rears to as har as they go and the fronts to as soft as they'll go, get some BFG drag radials and run no more then 20psi in them, you may need to to get the bead locked to run them that low. I know once I hit 15 psi I did.
But IT IS DOABLE!

how does 1 lug make a diffrence? so does that mean a 91 cavalier wagon witht he 2.2 ohv and 5x100 lug pattern would be better for these "perfomance rims"

Dont listen to them. They dont know **** about lug patterns anyways. 5 Lug isnt even a concern unless your pushing well over 400hp. And not only that he went off without knowing the facts. I am buying a full set of Volk 5 spoke rims and 50% tires for 500 bucks. They are used coming off a buddys 470hp Civic hatch. Anyhow like it really matters. Soon as I find a wrecked SS Im gonna do a full 5 Lug hub conversion on my car anyways because my buddys stock Vette rims witht eh littel crossed flags fit his sons SS/SC so I plan to eventually have Vette rims and Pirelli rubber all teh way around.
And a GM reflash is just something I had done so that I ahve the SS/SC governor of 145mph rather then the POS 115 I had before. Hard to highway race all these stuck up Spec V's around here when were dead even then all the sudden my throttle goes nil and I have nothing.

Haha these Spec V's are in a way faster class then our cars from a dig. Almost 1 1/2 seconds faster stock to stock. Best way to race them is 60 Punch on the highway. They will pull midway through third but soon as I hit 4th I can even it up and finally pull ahead by about a half car around 120 - 130. With my 500 - 700 dollars worth of mods I can Make my 12k car hang with a 19k car. Once my ordered parts get here and I tune it I shoudl be pulling them mean.

I would like proof of this reflash.
