2.0 S/C and turbo on 2.2L

Hey guys I am new here, I have an '06 LS 2.2L. I read on here that a lot of parts from the 2.0 and the 2.2 are interchangable.

what does it take to put the S/C from the 2.0 on my 2.2? I found one on Ebay, hopefully I can find the intercooler that comes on the 2.0 also.

I want to turbocharge my 2.2 also. I will be replacing a lot of the internals and A LOT of other work as well. I am trying to put at least 300hp down on the ground.

so is this possible? to supercharge and turbocharge my 2.2L.

any help is appreciated!!!

anything is possible, if you throw enough money at it. but to make 300whp you wont need to twincharge. just forge your internals, then get a nice twinscrew or turbo.

ok...yea after looking around and reading some more, both might not be that great of an idea.

BUT what would be better? a good turbo or the S/C off the 2.0???

I found a good looking turbo kit off of Ebay that was custom made to a guy's 2.4L. He claims to be putting down like 240 with the turbo.

is there a better turbo than the Garrett? thats the other one I am looking at.

where can I find the forged internals that I'll need? do you think I should swap out the pistons, crank, connecting rods, and everything?

I live in pooler near Savannah, I wont be here for long though. I am in the CG and just going through some schooling right now.

reading > me

You gotta get a ECU that is HPTuners capable. Or go stand alone which is $$$.

^ There is your best bet. Talk to a 2.2L turbocharged owner.

Yeah I have a turbocharged vehicle, but our two vehicles are COMPLETELY different. IE: I'm running a OBD I system to your CAN. OBD II scanners can still pick up our ECUs('06 Cobalts.)

if you want to make over 250bhp you will need to replace the pistons. if you want over 300bhp replace the rods too. So if your going for 300whp, you will need to replace pistons and rods. Doing that with some ARP Head studs and a better head gasket, you have built yourself a 600bhp engine.

ok, I guess to build this thing up and use it as my daily driver I ought to make it reliable.

Where can I get forged internals. I will go with forged pistons and connecting rods. Where can I find them for my 2.2L, and where can I find the dimensions of the piston and rods I need.

Are the cylinder walls ok? will I need sleeves? is this a staright swap of the pistons and rods or are there other things I will have to replace besides gaskets???

thanks guys I appreciate it.

sorry man but use that search button! We have all answered these questions time and time again. It would be too easy to give you the answers. If you have to look for them, in the future you will search for anything else you need as well because most likely there has been a thread about it. Also honestly if you need to ask all these questions you are not ready for the challenge again. Keep reading for a couple months so you fully understand what needs to be done and what your actually doing to your car. Trust me when i say its not easy and takes a lot of time...

Ill help you with one thing. Turbo Tech Racing(a vendor here) has great prices on internals. Check em out =P

ok thanks. What you said makes sense, that if I have to ask those question then maybe I am not ready for the build. I do have some guys that can help me including my father. Thanks for all of your input. While I am working on my cobalt I will have another Daily Driver so that I can have my Cobalt down for like a couple months. I appreciate your help and patience.

Your welcome and thats good to hear. I myself have learned a lot from the people around me and from this forum and other sites. My grandfather has been building engines for 50+ years. Hes great to have around except he isnt to keen on the newer stuff. Still the same concepts tho.

Its always good to know whats going on with your car. If something happens and you paid someone to build it, your not going to have a clue what to do. Its best you take the time to learn a bit more then when the time comes you will save money and be very knowledable about your own car. You can then laugh at the SRT4/honda tards that say **** to make their car sound faster when what they said actually makes no sense.
