2.2 *LIGHT* Modding

i gotta friend that jus picked up an 06 lt balt. i gave him a pat on the back but joked around about how the local SVT Focus was going to eat him up. well he fires back with a few plans. they ranged from a long term turbo plan to a really half baked plan:

"found a power programer for about 400 bucks that gives me 90 ponies and 125 fpt without having to modify the engine whatsoever. I'm lookin into stuff man, dont worry, lol"

seems to me a thot like that could be put on the long list of "famous last words"

so before he goes and blows even a dime on anything, any advice?

Probably the easiest way, would be to do the simple boltons.

Cat-back exhaust, intake, DP, header.

It just depends how far you want to take it I suppose.

I mean you have to start somewhere right?

+1 get bolted first, then once he has the $3500 or so for the turbo and install he can easily resell his boltons and upgrade if needed... thats wha ti plan on doing, will probablly take me the better part of a year.

Tell him to go with bolt on first such as: intake, header, down pipe, exhaust, 2.4 mani swap, mounts, suspension work...

but if try's the chip i'm curious on how well it works so if u could let me know that would be cool but personally i am going to turbo so yeah...

It's nothing more then a fancy boxed resistor. Those people make **** tons of money selling 1.50 in parts for 70 bucks.

Let him know if it was that easy to add 50+ hp we all would have one.

Like stated start with the bolt ons, then save your money. If later down the road it's not fast enough, then splurge on something big (The proper way)

Focus SVT: 15.9 @ 90.2 mph

cobalt 2.2: 16.37 @ 87.60 mph

really, that's not that much of a threat, if i drove a 2.2, i wouldn't be all that scared of SVT focus'

too proud

video games have corrupted this poor bastards mind. DAMN YOU NFS Most Wanted Damn You

i told him all about this site, and to a lesser extent the .com site. but he says he has it all figured out. hopefully ill talk some sense into him. cuz from what i see in these 2.2 threads, a LT really is worth modding. ya just gotta keep a moderate sense of reality
