2.2 to 2.4 intake mani questions

I was just wondering how hard it is to swap them out. And when i do i can use my same ca intake right? Im getting the adapter plate and stuff from ced, but i was just trying to figure out what is to be expected when i do the swap.

from what i've heard you dont need the adapter plate that ced sells with the intake mani and yea you'd still be able to use your cai..

the 2.2 TB and the 2.4 TB are different sizes, hence, you need the adapter plate. Otherwise, I think you will only be able to use 2 of the 4 bolts to hold the TB on.

The CED kit comes with everything you need and installation instructions. Not a bad price for all the things you need.
In testing the TB seal could be seen compressed and partially sticking out under the 2.2 TB making it liable to leak over time. The 2.2 TB is smaller overall than the 2.4 TB - the seals are not the same size - You may get away without using the adapter but why take the chance?
Any intake made for the 2.2 or 2.4 will still work without a problem -- the 2.4 manifold mounts the TB in the center of the manifold while the 2.2 manifold mounts the TB off center to the driver side. The intake would need to be a little shorter by about ~ .5" -- gives you more to work with actually.

how hard would it be to just use the 2.4 tb on the 2.2, example a complete manifold assembly with the TB on it?

Several have tried, it puts the car into "Limp Mode" because of the additional amount of air thats coming in. You will have to wait for a tuning solution before trying this.

I have a 2.4, I was just curious if it was possible, someone is tuning the 2.2 if hahn can put a turbo on it. I would have to think that you could do whatever you wanted to do if you went and got the computers (ecm/tcm) from a wreaked 2.4 (sure they are out there, people cannot drive) and HP tuners. It would require some work sure, but it could be worth it if you boost it.

You would think it would cost GM less to use the same harness. All three blocks are essentially the same with minor (from a when you are building it in a plant) differences. Just use the same harness and some would use some plugs that others wouldn't. I know several manufactures already do this.

But I believe you, just saying it is retarded

yeah that would be the easiest thing bein all three basically have the same block and heads arent really all that much different either.. guess they just try to make it hard for us to mod without goin through hell and back to do it..

The 2.4 has VVT, the 2.2 doesn't, it would make sense that GM would not make us pay for the extra hardware, wiring, more powerful ECM that we will never use.

Well 2 questions from what there site says........... 1 is that 13 hp gain just from the kit, or does that include all the other mods too?? Meaning the first dyno run was stock and the 2nd was all the other mods along with the 2.4 mani or what.... and 2nd what's a better idea the 2.4 mani kit or a header and downpipe??? Cuz obviously the mani is cheaper... but I still don't like that its plastic

that gain is just for the manifold. All the other mods were present. The gain is the most substantial on 07-08 due to a few differnet things like better tuning

agree with dude above ^^^^

remember though you start getting any farther down the line with exhaust and headers..start thinking about cams to take advantage of the more-free-flowing air going into and out of your motor....
