2.2 cams and ecm tuning

hey guys/girls

i have looked around and looked at cams and cant figure out what would be the best deal on them becuase i think thats my next investment after i get my new megan cat-back but im let me know where you found some good deals at.

secondly, where do i get a ecm tuner or suite for 2.2 on the 07 L61 ? i ask this becuase if i do get cams which ones should i get(stage 1 or stg. 2?) and where do i get a tune for the ecu ?

thanks

i believe ls2 edit works on the 2.2l for 07 you can get a way better tune from that then you can get from vinces canned tunes.... vince can get close but with a hpt or ls2 edit you can be dead nuts on.. via wide band

because you can live tune with a wideband. road test and tune or dyno tune. if you have a wide band .. then its not so much a trial and error... your tuner is there not x amount of miles away doing mad scientist tuning. not to mention you can map and tune via ve tables. its basically as good as hpt. smt-6 works the same way. witch is what im tuning with. see i started out with a aem fic and ended up putting that on my track car. aem is nice but the smt-6 is great.

if you would like i can post some logs..

LS2 Edit is the only tuning suite avail for the 2nd Gen L61. And the CIA/Trifecta tune is the only other tune avail period.

I dont know that the Trifecta tune is any worse than LS2, but LS2 is absolutely more likely to get your tune dialed in much more quickly, and most likely(not sure about all the pricing at Trifecta) for much less money.

Well if Vince didn't use data logging then that statement above would be correct. But Vince uses data logging and now there all the same.

The car comes with a narrow band, and he usually suggest that you put a wideband on the car. He uses the gt tuner as a data logger.

I would rather have someone remote tune my car then go piggyback

it might be a slow and potentially less accurate process but atleast you're actually making changes to the ECU and not tricking it into doing what you want. you also aren't limited to making changes only in open loop.

LS2 Edit is from Carputing. Just type LS2 Edit into the address bar, it should pop right up.

Yup, youll need either the money to get the cams installed(expect to pay 3-3.5hours labor at a good shop with the proper tools) or the ability to do it yourself.

Most importantly, youre going to need to get the camshaft reluctor wheel removed from your intake cam and installed on your new cams, this is going to be the tricky part, its technically speaking not possible even though it can be and has been done. The wheel isnt supposed to come off, and most shops wont know how or be willing to do the swap, Id call Bates or ask Comp if they can recommend someone to install the sensor wheel AND shorten the cams. I'd be happy to help you with the actual install, but I still havent gotten any cam cores to mess around with and practice swapping reluctor wheels so I honestly at this point wouldnt even feel comfortable doing that.......

i got ya that wheel sounds kinda like a PITA to me i may get someone else to do it just cause of the fact of people having the problems with the instal and willl the cams affect the cam position sensor or is that what the edit is for?
and thanks for offering to help ha hopefully i can "EVENTUALLY"(key word there) get enough saved up to do all that so you think im looking at all said and done about $1500 or $2000 for work and parts right? does that sound about right to you?
