From someone elses gallery but none the less for refrence.
05-06 LS vs. 07 LS (pictures is an ss/sc but the diff being the 07 LS has the 02 port not drilled and tapped) and im lazy this late at night

But thats exactly how mine is, Feels much more fun to drive.
so your saying the loss in torque the 05-06's are suffering are due to the exhaust manifold? in other words a 2.4 intake manifold upgrade along with the lsj exhaust manifold sitting in the room will be totally FTW?

yeah but i would rather get the ss/sc kit then hers and she never cleans the thing so its dirty as ****. she treats it like crap, she is a disgrace to cobalt owners but she may be the only what that has hit a person goin about 20(thats why she cant get insured)

funny thing is the 2.4 it might accauly make more torque with the shorter runners. But cause the casting is so crappy it doesnt flow as well to it will kill the top end.

Two things:

1) The smaller exhaust manifold will not decrease low end torque. Its when you have a manifold/dp that is too big that the low end takes a hit.

2) I have a Vibrant Long Tube header and downpipe, so my engine exhales just fine

Were getting confused here.

Intake
2.2 Short runners + Crappy casting = more torque - less high end
2.4 Long + Smooth runners = Less torque + more high end

Exhaust
2.2 05-06 - Extremly restrictive manifold - works fine cause of crappy intake
2.2 07 - pointless to get ss/sc manifold just need bigger DP - will sacrifice some TQ + more top end.
2.4 ALL - years same as SS/SC

Youd be better off with a $70 Electric dremel tool or air grinder and sanding discs and hone it yourself

Or get a steel header like ZZperformance, vibrant, ect and save the weight.
I'm just trying to do as much as I can, cost effectivly and using all GM parts on the motor.

It certainly won't get you where a real header would.

The manifold is supposedly 4-5 hp, a header would give you around 7-12 hp- this is all depending on the level of the rest of the exhaust.

I personally will be getting the same manifold and GMPP touring exhaust just so the warranty is still good. I know, they have to prove damage and such, but I do not even want them to have an excuse that I personally must diffuse to get warranty work going.
The exhaust and manifold should get me another 15-17 horses, which is plenty for what I need it for, less pedal effort needed, passing people when I need to or pulling into traffic.

I will wait for tuning before I get an intake, as I really want a CAI and worry about lean codes.

Uhhh no... im not gonaa make fun of this cause im tired of ppl doing it to me, but dems some high hopes.

TOTAL BOLT-On's
2.2L
air filter to muffler tip 10-15 MAX average without throwing a code - so far.

Besides enough with the Advertising ricer math.

And we all know dynos and the track are not the end all beat all, they both have their flaws.

At least with Dyno testing you can show the important part - CHANGE from setup A to setup B
The Track just proves whos the better driver, possibly with the better of equipment.

That said and cause i thought it was funny: directed at no one in particular

Tell your girlfriend you're swinging a 10lb hammer, and show up to the party with a 6lb wrench, shes not conna care that the weather made the change.
Tell her you got a 6lb wrench and show up with more than what she thought... priceless.

Better to underestimate and apprciate, than overestimate and be disappointed.

We all hope for the best.

There has been so much discussion on this mod, IDK what to think of it. Some cars loose big power down low, some don't. What I've heard most is that the 2007's don't really lose as much power down because of the modifications to the 2.2 ecotec during the 2007 model year. IDK though it's alot of speculation mixed in with some depressing dyno charts.

Its not depressing it is, what it is; people need to stop expecting so much.

I have a purpose for my powerband to be up high, and I dont do roll racing. Theres plenty of power down low for daily driving.

Again to each their own opinion, but each mod has it purpose and its not to say, "oh well i got more than you."

ITs to accomplish a goal, well for me it is.

A fun daily driver that autocrosses well, and if i need power, SHIFT.
