2.2 Head Internals

Im looking to build the internals on my 2.2. But I was wondering, if anybody knows, how much power can the stock head internals handle? How nessessary is it to build the head?

For the Bottom End i was going to get:

Forged pistons and rods
Spec Flywheel
Forged crankshaft
Stage 3 spec clutch

Any suggestions

you dont need a crank unless your close to 500whp man.. thats going to take alot of work the head will flow close to 350hp stock but if you upgrade the cams i would say get the head ported. with valves and springs..

The forged crank is going to be a hard one to find. Most of the 350 whp lsj's are still on stock valve springs, you might want to invest in some stainless valves and seals though. Pistons/rods are a must.

True. I'm hooking my mechanic up with free AllData, so I'm hoping to get built for free.

I think total parts I'm going to spend is right around 2k when all said and done, and that includes valvetrain and head port.

How are you guys coming up with these huge numbers? No way it should cost that much for just the internals.

Everything made sense except for the 2.5k in the head. Why is god's name?

I'm guessing cams, ferrera valves/springs/seals, and a multi angle port?

valve springs, retainers, and seats, 0.5mm oversize inconel valves, cams, and a CnC port job by M2race to really let her flow, and to fit those oversized valves
im going for a 7500rpm redline and more flow than anyone on the forums currently has

most flow isnt too hard to achieve. not many members have the m2race port job, and its the heaviest port job ive seen so far, and none of the members who do have it have oversized valves

Well it looks like I can leave the crank alone, I don't really plan on pushing it over 400 hp. But the rods and pistons is for sure needed, and the valves will need to go, but if im going to do the valves I mine as well do the cam shaft to i think.

And by what I read, the transmition in our engines was meant for a V6, so it can handle quite a beating
