I have a Cobalt 2.2ls and I want to buy the Garrett Alpha Turbo Kit. I want to know if anyone else has a turbo'd 2.2 and what is your experiences.

What is the affect on the gas mileage?
The requirements before installation?
How is your 2.2 turbo running?
Is it a good investment, should I turbo my cobalt?

 

I don't have a turbo but I could tell you that it could help a lil with gas mileage because it allows the engine to breathe better. But lets get real, you don't install an after market turbo just to get better gas mileage. If your looking to sell the car eventually then no it's not the best investment. Mostly everything you'll need will come in the kit.

 

I am running the garrett kit on my 2005 sedan and it was WAY worth it. My gas mileage did suffer i went from 34ish down to 29 highway. As for requirments? you need to run 93+ octane fuel thats about it. The alpha kit comes with everything for a easy install in your own garage. Mines running amazing. Never had any problems with it. Just my clutch which is tricky. Over all i think it was worth it. I love my setup. Right now im pushing 239WHP 249WHP.

 

i have 2.2 turbo...and if your not boosting...you will see like 35~38 mpg crusing at about 45mph
