2.2 Turbo KIT

Who are the vendors for this as of right now?

I know frank @ maximum boost had one in production but he isnt responding emails and he has been removed from the supporting vendors list.

Does anyone else provide a turbo for the 2.2?

his kit is not complete though just so you know

you still technically need a proper tuning solution with that kit.

check out his GB thread on JBO

honestly i wouldnt feel comfortable using franks kit, no tuning device, no downpipe, intercoolers are an option and his quality hasnt had a good track record from what ive been reading, cheaper is not always cheaper

Hahn's kit is in prototype right now. Beta testing in a month or so. Retail soon after that.

i think that on a stock engine we will probably only push 7 psi or so which is fine with me since thats an extra 70hp

i wanted to pay MAX of 2000 for one. and then get the other stages later on. I just want a turbo set up where i can run 5-7 psi safely.

personally, i dont think your going to find a good/safe setup for 2000. Unless there becomes a bigger market for aftermarket turbos, and i doubt there ever will be a big enough one to bring prices down that low. honda's yes, i doubt cobalts. I wish though, i would buy one for 2000 + install but it will be at least 3200 i think, then install.

Of course you could build your own under this, but you would have to do all of your own tuning etc. Could be alot of headaches if your in-experienced like myself. Since mine is a daily driver i would like to pay the 2k get it installed and have fun, not mess with it every other day.

yeah unfortunately u gotta pay to play and im planning on laying down $5000 on the kit, tuning, install, and gauges...if you pay less than that it might cost more in the long run

the kit you mentioned wouldn't be bad IF it had some type of fuel management...but if you're willing to risk it then go for it. You will only be running 4psi though...

The thing that sucks is that right now there really are no complete bolt on and safe (tried and proven) setups for the Ions/Cobalts...

How does the drive by wire incorporate into this? Does it still use a typical trottle position sensor, or do you need to pull something from the ecm?

drive by wire doesnt stand in the way at all other than we cant ever use a standalone ecu it will always have to be piggy back

There's no way you're going to get everything for less than 3,500 installed. Turbo kits are about 3,000-4,000 alone. If you can't dish out that money than don't even bother with it. If you want cheap speed, go with Nitrous. I don't like nitrous personally but it's cheap and it gives you great gains. The turbo with everything and installation will run you an easy 3,500 and that's being on the cheap side.

I'm gonna get a custom turbo system from a performance shop here in SA. They are a good co. cuz they've been around for a long long time. Plus I'm gonna see if they give me a discount if I put there logo on my car (nothing drastic though)
