2.2L Mod Capabilities

Alright folks let's hear what you've done to your 2.2 and how much power you're puttin down with it (Does NOT include forced induction).. I'm very very curious as to what is possible with this motor.
All I've done is Injen CAI for performance mods. Soon to come..
2.4L intake mani
2.25" Magnaflow catback
2.4L throttle body (right before tune)
Tune from KRS Performance (anyone have this?) .. Apparently I can send them a list of all the mods I have on my car and they will tune it specific for those mods, then send me the tool that you plug in, wait, unplug, and ship them back the tool. Seems too good to be true.

I want to know what else (aside from forced induction, once again, waay out of my price range) I can do to my 2.2 to get the most power possible. I've seen LTs with stage 2 cams is that a good idea?
I just feel like this simple list of 5 mods isn't ALL that can be done.

Let's see what you've got. I'm open to any suggestions

header and catted dp. Stage 2 cams with neutral balance shafts and I think that would be about all you can do

There's a mod called the "Dealer Mod". I've found it's the most successful for the 2.2L engine. This is what you do: Take your car to the dealer, and trade it in for something better.

meh, i have feelings against that. some of us bought our cars well under MSRP brand new. I picked mine up for 11,200 right off the lot. doing a cost comparison you'd actually realize that it's a perfect platform for somebody to dump 10g's into and walk away with something much better than you'd of bought for 20g's.

Well yeah, that's true but I'm 18 and do not have access to those kinds of funds. So I may be biased.

honestly saying F/I is out of your price range is silly. i thought the exact same thing when i first started modding my 2.2 but if you look over it all once you have bought all your bolt ons, cams and tuned you will have spent more then enough to have just saved it and gone boost. i have already walked your path, save up for boost!

would you say camming a 2.2 is worth it? I was considering it but your looking at a grand easy for everything you'd need to do it. (intake/exhaust/tune)

nothings cheap..........nothing......and if you find real power for real cheap......good bye. NA, Turbo, SC, Nitrous.......bah it all cost money. on top of that getting it to work right once you get it all tricked out takes time and patience. in the end if you invest in your goal its always worth it no matter what the numbers or naysayers say.

Hahaha well unfortunately my friend, not all of us are financially capable of makin that move. I actually looked into buying an 09 SS/TC but I just owed too much on my car as it was to do anything right now.. Which is also why I'm not really worried about forced induction any time soon. Other than the fact I could only boost 8psi with stock internals.. As long as it would take me to save up I could be buying smaller things along the way and have a built 2.2L by the end of it all. I'm in college for 2 more years then I'll have an engineering degree and be making enough money to buy a better car (I'm thinking BMW 335i sedan twin turbo with the jb3 chip) so I don't want the fastest Cobalt out there I just want something fun to build and keep around when I have a new car.

With that being said..

Well thats good I suppose.. I've heard a lot of people going with Trifecta tunes. So it's as simple as plugging in a tool just like a code reader, waiting 15 minutes and starting it up?
I'm lovin the mods signature by the way hahaha

So with my Injen CAI, 2.4 TB, 2.4 IM, 2.25" catback and Trifecta tune gimme a ball park estimate at how much power could I put down at the wheels.. And then with a stage 2 cam.
Thanks again, sorry for the long posts I just have quite a few questions

Hahahaha understood. I didn't really look into the Cobalt when I bought mine.. Didnt really even know the SS was an option I just got a great deal. Lesson learned.. I dont think I'll ever buy a base model again but I must say I like how my ride has turned out it is for sure my favorite car IN ITS CLASS
I actually checked out that SC setup for sale it's not lookin too bad.. But it'd still be pretty pricy after shipping and installation and tune hahaha. Just dont think its the smartest $1300 I could spend right now.. Id rather spend $150 on an intake mani shipped to my door. Then an exhaust next month.

How much power are you looking for? Imo, don't buy anything other than suspension parts until you can afford to do what you really want performance wise. This was some good advice that was given to me that I didn't listen to lol. You can easily spend the same or near the same on bolt ons and cams over time and be slower than a mild blower or turbo setup.

OP. You have an 07 LT? If so, no cams for you unless you can find a shop to trim down the exhasut cam, and put the sensor on the cam.

ZZP does have lsj take off kits for 999.00$ which is an awesome cheap price to go forced induction with an m62 supercharger.

I don't really know how much power I'm looking for! I mean let's not kid ourselves who wouldn't want to turbo or sc their car? Of course it would be freakin sweet, I'm just saying its not practical for me, at this point in my life. My dad would flip his lid if I told him I spent $1300 on a sc kit hahaha I figured I'd be getting a lot more power with all the 2.4 mods than I'm understanding now though. No one has told me about how much I could put down with them.. Here's what I'm thinking hp wise (to the crank)
Inken CAI - 18-20hp
2.4 intake mani - 12-18hp
2.4 tb - 10-15hp
trifecta tune - 15-20hp
2.25 catback - 8-10hp

Does that sound about right? If that's the case, I'd be right around 235 to the crank, sooo maybe 195 to the wheels? I feel like that would be plenty power in my little cobalt. I mean ****, the stock ss/sc came with 206 to the crank from the factory!
