Secondary Air Injection is what it stands for. When you start the car it injects more air. thats about it
Go take a picture of your engine bay and post it up. You should see a little compresor thing like right behind your motor and another line coming from your stock air box.

I went out and took a look, the compresor thing is it big or small, because I dont think that there is any thing there, and the olny tube coming off the air box is going right to the (shark fin) that sits on my TB . so I'm thninking I dont have it.

take a pictures and post it up of your stock intake we can tell you if it has sai,
were the stock airbox is to the right of it, and i mean touching the box if there is a HOSE touching the stock airbox on the right hand side that is the sai line.
you can still use your friends 2.4 k&n if you have sai, you just have to throw a filter on the sai hose, there is a company working on making a header that deletes sai. so just put a breather on it for now and you should be good to go.

i personally didn't disconnect a battery ever on any car i have ever put a intake on... however, we have learning ecu's so your ecu may not take full advantage of the new intake for awhile. by disconnecting the batter your resetting the ecu to factory defaults and i'd think it would pick up the intake and start taking full advantage of it sooner.

lol. look in his engine bay. it's the 2.4 intake. he's got a 2.2. the intake for our cars is silver. they are interchangeable as long as you don't have sai. but even if you did the fix for that would be to disconnect the sai line at the mid point in your engine bay, not from the pump itself throw a breather on the line and secure it to something. i don't feel like doing all that so i just got the right one. lol. but yeah. it will fit.
