2005 2.2l Cobalt Engine Mounts

I have searched around here for a while and haven't really found the answers I need.

A friend of mine has a 2005 Cobalt 2.2l (w/ several bolt on modifications) and we have found on Gravana tuning that the Ingalls Torque damper will work with a certain stock motor mounts. The short spread mount to be exact.

My question is this, what does a "Short Spread" motor mount look like? Gravana stated some, not all 2005 models came equipped with the "old style" mount.

Could someone post a picture showing me which mounts are which? Gravana also stated that the old style mount can still be used but we would need to purchase some parts from GM.

Thank you to whoever can clear this up for us.

Post or PM us picture of your mount, this is the only true way to tell. Also you will be much better off getting the solid engine mount. The Ingalls has been known to "bend" the brackets... Many members have used the Ingalls and then switched to the Turbo Tech Racing Solid mount and stated they would never go back to an Ingalls.

Might save you some $ in the long run.

If your making enough power to justify motor mounts, get the solid ones not a band aid

if you buy TTR's mount, it dont matter what mount you have now, it will bolt up fine with no problems, as you are replacing the whole mount...

Bolt (qty 2) #11514280 List Price $4.25

Yes, so please post a picture and if you do have the old style mount, you will need to get those parts. They come to around $30 at a dealer so it is not bad...

Yeah you need the GM part numbers we list you have the old style mount, which GM does not use anymore on the newer cobalts.

Having a problem, gm parts direct cannot find the part number for the bracket, is that the correct pn?

Actuallly they can find the part once I dug a lot deeper but they do not list a price, does anyone know of another location to buy it?

All the parts from a local GM dealer should come to about $35.00

Thats not the issue, the issue is the part number for the bracket you have listed on your website no longer is found in GM Parts Direct, or through my dealer. So I basically have a $200 mount and can't put it in yet...

I think it was you that emailed me... I sent you a photo of the "GM Parts Direct" catalog page with this bracket. It is there, they just do not list the part number online for some reason. Everyone else has always got it from a local GM dealer of theirs. It wont be on their shelf (takes a week to get)

Does anyone know the bolt sizes for these GM part numbers?

Bolt (qty 2) #11514280 List Price $4.25
Bolt (qty 1) #11516330 List Price $4.04
Bolt (qty 3) #11518166 List Price $1.47

I'm finally switching over to the new style mount and would rather try to get these from an auto parts or hardware store

I bought the bracket and bolts from gmpartsdirect when I installed my TTR engine mount. They were on sale too, so it was more like $20.

Youll need to jack the engine up a few inches to replace the bracket, but as long as you support it with a jack and wood between the jack and oil pan or something, youll be fine.

You can kind of see here how on the new mount and bracket, the 3 bolts are much closer together.

the F23 rotated engine mounts we make work for Cobalts and Ions; replacing the upper bracket like that on the passenger side is really pretty but in tems of function for mount alignment and wheel hop, does not help.

Ingalls torque damper does not help either.

thanks for the reference pics...I might consider trying to get the parts from there if no one else responds

and i'm not looking to make the switch for performance reasons...I'm doing this because the LSJ tensioner literally does not fit with the old style mount and I would finally like to ditch the hacked up mount/bracket that I've been running
