Hello. Well I had a SS/SC-TVS, but it's gone now. Buttt my GF still has her 2008 LS. She has been riding my ass for awhile now to make her car remote start. This worsened when she saw my Caddy has remote start, keyless fob, etc. Pheffff, women...

I searched around but didn't find much.

I could have sworn I saw some info on a factory remote start? Easier integration?

What other options do I have? She is going to want the cheapest thing that will start her car from inside her house, so no alarm/start combo's (unless they're super cheap).

What are my options, and how is the install? I'm most likely going to get stuck with the install unless it is terribly hard.

If it matters her car has power locks and windows, as well as keyless entry now.

From what I know:

-The bypass module I used is an xpress kit DLPK (type in DLPK on google, 30-70 bucks usually)

As far as a base remote start, you can pick one up for pretty cheap from- DEI (They make about 5 different company names, avital, viper, etc. but same innerds in each). Avitals can be had for under $100 usually.

-Using the factory keyless, she won't be able to use the keyless while the car is started remotely from what I know.

Installation is fairly straight forward, if you have a wire stripper, crimpers and a multi meter to double check for the correct wire, it shouldnt take more than 2 hours if you're handy with tearing the car apart. Mine is a total ****, I retrofitted in power locks, and i got the whole kit and kaboodle, alarm, security and remote start (with smart start )

I'd prefer not to do it if I don't have to lol. I saw those Avitals for real cheap on eBay, but I wasn't sure what all else was needed.

Anyone know how to go about getting the OEM remote start installed? I believe I remember reading that a dealer reflash of some kind was needed? (probably BCM).

 

wouldn't have any clue with the OEM set up. I'm looking to make a how-to with mine, I just need to peel back my panels and get some final pics for it and all. maybe a mod could move your post to audio/video and someone could chime in there?

PS Where in the hell is Harrison city? Never heard of it! (too lazy to google, gran turismo is engulfing me at the moment)
