? about down pipes

so from what i have read all down pies are either 2.5 inch or 3 inch which is great for the sc cars but isn't a 2.5 inch a little big for an na car? i would think a 2 1/4 would be the max for an na street car. am i way off on this? tell me please.

2.25" is probably the best, but if you get a 2.5 it should be fine. 3" however would probably hurt performance. I just went with whatever came with my Vibrant and didn't worry about it.

use the LSJ DP. I put one on my 2.2 and it made a world of difference and it bolts right up.

I have a 2.5" downpipe (Cobalt Addiction de-cat) and a 2.5" cat-back (ARK N2), and my performance is great.

This is on a 2.4SS, so I can't really speak for a 2.2 though. But my friend's Focus has a 2.5" Tru-Benz cat-back exhaust, and it works great and improved his performance too. And his Focus is only a 2.0.
