AEM Intake Install Question
I bought a 2006 Coblat LS last month. I just bought an AEM Intake I hooked it all up and I have an extra hose line that looks like its coming out of my exaust manifold, well anyways I have it plugged up right now because the people at modern performance said it was just a breather and that I could plug it up and it would be ok. Does anyone know for sure where this tube goes to and if I should have it plugged up or just leave it open?
if you are referring to the breather tube, it actually comes out of the valve cover. On most intakes I've seen there is usually a nipple on the piping for the hose to connect to. Or you could pick up one of those small breather filters from the ricer section in auto zone and stick it on there. Doesn't make too much of a difference either way.
i dunno about leaving it plugged up, its there to help dissipate some of the blow by pressure the engine makes as a by product of combustion. it'll prolly be alright for a little while until you can find a fix, but leaving it like that could potentially blow a gasket or seal of some kind...
I was wondering what the crap that was on my 2.4. I've got a hose running from the intake to the "breather" on the valve cover... but I've seen pics of 2.2 Ecotec Cavaliers running with a small filter on there instead. Is that feasible? I put my finger over the tube part that comes out of the engine and it does blow air back out... does this not disrupt the airflow of the intake?
