Anyway you could describe how loud? Like very noticeably louder?

yea....changing the intake will make it louder.(you can always get another air box from a member here so you can change it whenever you want )
also you should have a quicker throttle response out of it....im not sure if thats gonna reduce the 1/4 mile time tho

its not noticable if you drive normally with windows up
ill try to get a vid clip or something ...and compare it with mike's G5 with injen intake and GM performance exhaust
by the way....mine can now set off car alarms ...lol ......i was revving it next to a parked car and the alarm went off

Haha, okay, mine is automatic too.
Basically I'm in the same boat as you, Penguin. Don't want dad to think it's too loud and been messing around with the engine... that whole situation.

haha i know....as long as he doesnt drive behind you ..and you dont step on it when hes in ur car then you'll be fine
but yea i would recommend getting an extra air box ...so you can swap it in 5 mins if you need to

For a manual, you can only get that downshift revving noise if you downshift to a lower gear at a higher speed too soon. Otherwise if you drive normally, the car is very quiet when downshifting.
Now, upshifting is a different story as manual requires you to rev the engine a bit higher than automatic. If you don't, you actually labour the engine.

I went to play with this today, does the airbox get cut while on the car? I guess so, it doesn't seem very removable otherwise. (Yes, I have the two silver clips unclipped)
Probably a dumb question..

no you have to take it off first. theres a tube with a clamp connecting to the air box. loosen that clamp with a flat screw driver, unplug the MAF sensor (unscrew the 2 screws) and there you go, you can take it off

Okay thought so haha. Cutting the damn thing off on the car didn't seem like the right thing to do.
I'll go out and browse around for a K&N 0930 and clamp sometime soon and see what I can do after I get that
