Air Filter Replacement

With the warm weather creeping in I washed my car the other day and I decided to check the filter. Well it's pretty dirty, I've had it on since I bought the car last May. As a replacement is it worth it to go with the K&N filter or should I just go with AC Delco or whatever brand they have at autozone. Is a $40 oiled K&N filter 'better' than a $10 dry generic brand? Discuss.

Why not try the AEM dryflow filter,no more oiling!

I'm assuming you're talking about the stock airbox. IMO, it wouldn't be worth it to spend more on the K&N just as a replacement filter. Save the money and put it towards a CAI.

And like g5mike said, get a dryflow if you get an intake; that way you don't have to worry about getting oil on the MAF.

Good point, I was looking for a drop in filter though. I have SAI so I can't go CAI without some modifications.

What's SAI if you don't mind me asking? I probably should know this.

Secondary air injection. There's a stick thread about it in the 2.2 forums. Basically my stock intake box has an extra hose attached to it that has to breath filtered air in right after startup. The thread is much for detailed. This feature was only on some 06 and 07 models... some people like me were unlucky.

BTW, you have ss/sc springs on your 2.2? How are your stick struts holding up? I'm thinking about picking up ss/sc springs.

Everything seems to be on the up and up; I've had the springs on for 6-9 months now. The SS/SC springs don't give you much of a drop like lowering springs do, so if you are more into the appearance, don't get them. However, with so many SS/SC owners getting lowering springs, you can get some pretty good deals on their stock ones. Also, they make the car handle much, much better. If you are looking for better handling, thats the route to go IMO.
