B&M shifter

hey guys I have an automatic and just wondering if getting a B&M shifter would really allow me to shift through the gears like a manual? I know it says it on the website, but how does this actually allow you to do this? I need enlightenment...

I am guessing your talking about the b&m shift plus?.. it shortens your shift time so you sift even faster and more accuratly... you will have harder shifts though.. but that doesnt hurt the car... So just to let you know.. i have it on my car and i love it

its not a shifter and no its nothing like a 5spd. just stiffens your shifts and if im not mistaken changes shift points. On the autotrans ones you change line pressure but im not sure about the b&m.

I dont think those are compatible with our cars....those are more for full drag muscle cars..you may be able to get it to work but it would be to much trouble in my IMO

yea that's what I was thinking...I originally planned on getting a manual but....I had only 1 day left to get the 0% financing and I wanted black....so I had to get the auto to get the color and options I wanted

also is the shift plus worth the money?

Correct! You would only be shifting the valve body valve the same way your original shifter does -- so you would still have L I D and the tranny will shift the same. Only if someone comes up with a valve body kit to allow you to control the shift points like cars of "yesteryear" will you be able to do what you want.

Well they do actually have performance autos that you can switch gears....my buddy has one in his 72 stingray. Meant for the track though not really ideal for street use

I'm pretty sure you have to have a manual valve body for that

on a second note... our transmissions are electronically controlled we have shift solenoids to control the flow of tranny fluid.

Want the kicker... not only is the Shiftplus worth every single penny, and makes a huge difference. But it is actually BETTER for your transmission. Quicker shifts mean less friction, less friction equals less heat, less heat is for your transmission. I understand your hesitation but it is a great purchase and will not hurt your transmission

Correct. Our transmissions are rated to handle much more torque than you will be able to pump into it
