CEL after doing DIY tubing...

I checked this morning, all the sensors are connected correctly...what could be going on?

I removed the big baffle/silencer on the top of the engine and put spectre tubing in its place.
I didn't touch the maf sensor, I don't think it's borked...

can we see pics? do you have a code reader? i bet it's p0171. unplug the negative side of the battery for a few minutes, make sure everything is very tight and there's no leaks. plug the battery back in and give it a start. see if that takes care of it. it's most likely because something is leaking.

basically it most likely means that there's a leak somewhere between the maf and the throttle body. a good tighten should hopefully take care of it. don['t forget to unplug the battery too.

What year is the car? 2006s are famous for that code.

Get someone to read the code on your car before ripping the battery terminal off. The light is comming on for a reason and you won't escape it. The dealer can read it but it will cost you. I hear that autozone will scan for free.

If you want to do it yourself...
You can pickup a code reader for around $70 which should be OBD2 compliant. Most for sale nowadays are. You will find the connection under your dash on the drivers side. Put the key in your ignition and turn it over until the dash lights up (don't turn the car on). Press the read button on the scanner and it will check the computer and give you back the codes. Right them down if you can't remember them and press the erase button to remove the codes from your cars computer. I learned with my car that I have to do two power cycles before driving it or it will go into power reduction mode (every single time) and throw another CEL code.

p0171 is a fuel trim code. For me it just started appearing on the car after putting over 2000 miles on it. I was tinkering under the hood the day before and thought it was something I did. Apparently it wasn't. The climate changed for a week from hot and sunny to cold, foggy, and rain and it was enough for the car to start pushing out that code. Apparently it is because the car wasn't calibrated right from the factory our Canadian Summers

I doubt my problem is the same as yours. I suspect you might actually have a leak in your tubbing and that is why. If the engine is sucking for more air to burn the fuel properlly that code will appear. This can happen due to a leak in the intake system. But you can not be sure if that is even the case until you find out what code it is!

was it that bendy pipe? the one that looks like a vacuum cleaner one? u used it to connect the throttle body to the air box right? if so i had that same problem...its the p0171...running lean(too much air), did u find a way to connect a the small line that comes of the valve cover to ur intake, or did i just slap a breather on it? to get rid of it just dissconnect battery, but it will come back on after a while during WOT...i went to the dealer to get it cleared and they told me it would keep coming back until i put that big ass piece of plastic back on...so just to the battery thing, clear it instantly, w/out spending money...
