check engine light

check engine light

just a quick ? oil needs to be changed, its at 4% ......
display thinngy says change engn oil,
will that throw a check engine light?
also how do you re set that display oil % bs?

ummm u hold 1 of the DIC buttons and it brings another menu up and u clear it that way. or that how i do it on my 2007 balt

it shouldnt. it should just say check or change oil on the DIC when it gets mad low on the %

You can also reset the oil percentage by turning the key to the on position and have the DIC display your oil percentage. Press the gas pedal in 3 times to the floor and it will flash and reset to 100%.

ok thx....but i guess the oil filter cap was cracked i got oil over every square inch of my engine and do you think i fryed my rings....damn

uh how did you manage that one. and WHY did you let it go down to 4% in the first place?

thats like 7k miles on an oil change. please tell me youre using synthetic at least.

ya its synthetic...and cracked i guess because of trying to get it off the person that had it b4 me did not put oil on the o ring on the cap so it stuck...and i bought the car at 15% so i just got around to it...
