im getting my custom cat back done tomorrow at meineke and i ask them what kind of mufflers they had in stock to throw on after its done and they said they only have cherry bombs. im wondering what people think about the company and if i should go with it or wait and let the shop order me a magnaflow or something.

Cherrybombs are good mufflers, Do you know what type of cherrybomb, because they make 4 or 5 different mufflers, If you are talking about a Cherrybomb Glasspack then they sound nice on ecotec engines as long as you put them at the end of the exhaust and you also need a good tip 3inch or bigger. You should have a pretty nice tone then..

There is nothing wrong with the cherry bomb type glasspacks, but they are usually loud on a 4cyl. You need to run at least 2 of them or a resonator and one to help with the noise.

On a side note, why does everyone love Magnaflow? I've never heard anything they make that doesn't sound like ****.

I noticed that alot of people really push magnaflow, but I am not impressed with the way they sound on any of the ecotec engines...

Same here. I've heard thier catback, just mufflers, every combo, and they all sound shitty. Borla/GMPP is great, Corsa is close. Hahn is really nice under power but buzzy the rest of the time. Ark/Megan is just ******* loud and ricey.

Ehhh their alright. I had them install one in-line with my summit muffler. Quiet it back down. Go with a Flowmaster 40 series. Our cars idle wicked with those.

X2

I haven't been impressed, either.

I still like SLPs too...revs sound shitty on the single exhaust, but the full throttle sounded BAMF.

pepboys stocks magnaflows now. you can go buy one there. It is going to sound better then a cherry bomb.

Second I hope they are piecing this exhaust together and not doing any of the bends in house. If they are bending for you everything is going to be crush bent. I would find a real exhaust shop or ask them to peice together the system if they stock manderal bends.

Its your call but if your just goign for sound more power to ya, but if your trying to get a little out of it, yes I know your 2.2, then I would get it manderal bent somewhere else.

As for muffler, go to pepboys and get a magnaflow. If you get a longer one if helps with the tone. I ran one for a while and it sounded good on the ecotect. The shorter ones that dont have a lot of pack are the ones that arent always the best for sound

i've heard many a custom catback that lacked this key component. it's like the dudes going stg2 cams and not upping the cr. half ass it and you get half assed results.

Exactly.

I had a 40 series with a 18" resonator and it was deep and rumbled and low RPM. High RPM OF COURSE IT GOT LOUD ITS A NA 4 CYLINDER!

Only 4cyl I've had that doesn't get raspy or anything is my MX6 because its turboed and different engine. If you don't want raspy dont get a 4 cyl. ANY exhaust will still have a tiny bit of rasp.

When I get my new exhaust setup I may scrap everything and go 3".

Don't want to lose my 40 series but its only a 2.5".

Well I'll worry about that then I do not have the money right now.
