Clutch suggestion

I have a bone stock 07 LS and the stock clutch is starting to go. I plan on modding the car sooner or later, but will probably stop with just bolt ons as this is just the daily car and gets driven A LOT, and it mostly stop and go traffic. SO basicly I am looking for a clutch that will handle a little more power than stock, but have some good wear to it. A lot of people seem to like the SPEC Stage 2, is that over kill for what I need? Also while Im at it I may as well upgrade the flywheel, whats good out there? Thanks for the help.

In your position my opinion would be a exedy stage 1 or organic whatever it's called. If your gonna mod it pretty decent tho, i'd just pay the few extra $ and get the exedy stage 2 and flywheel. My clutch feels too soft and slips every now and then especially with the sc so I'm going for the stage 2.

If you are honestly going to stay stock, or at MOST an intake the exedy stage 1 we carry should be good for you. If you do any more than this you should get the stage 2 exedy or spec...

Well to be honest, I dont know how much I will increase the power. Im sure you guys would know better so Ill let you know what mods Im planning.

CAI
2.4 Intake
Headder
HFC (or cat delete)
Full exhaust
Tune

That is probably about it for power, but as I said I am not real sure how much power I can expect to pick up. Given that info do you still think the exedy stage 2 will suffice?

Thanks,
Sean

What do you think about a lightened flywheel? Is it worth it? What brand? What model?

Thanks,
Sean

If you get an exedy, they offer a chromoly flywheel for the 2.2L which would be very nice with this setup. It is lighter, but not as light as aluminum. It is also on www.TurboTechRacing.com

that's a very good suggestion, i bought a fidanza aluminum one, and while it's fine, and mated up well with the spec stage 2+ clutch, it's a little bit lighter than i'd want on a 2.2.

that is, it's streetable, but not as smooth as stock, and the chomoly ones seem to be a lot nicer for everyday use.

FYI, if i needed another clutch, TTR would always be my first choice, smoothest mail ordering experience i've ever had

i bought the fidanza flywheel and spec 2+ at 20k still works good and im almost at 60k. i just got done heavily modding my car and its still holding up well. go ahead and get stage 2 clutch. its very streetable and if you catch that performance bug like everyone else does your clutch will still hold up

I dont think I will be catching the performance bug with the Cobalt, this is what I drive on the weekends

I will probably order up the Exedy stage 2 with the Exedy flywheel from TTR and be happy!

Thanks,
Sean
