Cobalt08ls SC build thread

well after 4 years of owning my cobalt. and finally having a legit full time job with no possibilitys of loosing it (i work for the state) im going to be supercharging my 2008 2.2.
Car right now has 47,700 miles. I was close to buying a used kit off a member on here but i couldnt do it. I was getting frustrated piecing all the random bolts and gaskets and stuff i need. Everything on my car is BRAND new. I dont like buying used parts. Only used parts are interior pieces and my interceptor gauge. So i went ahead and bought the ZZP full 2.2/2.4 supercharge kit.

I was going to have a upstate tuner install the kit. Than i decided to try to ask BYT. So i asked if he would be able to do the install and tune, since he tuned my buddys SS/TC's. Everything went well with talking and working a price, than **** hit the fan when a member on here made a thread about bad experience he had. Keep in mind getting ahold of nick isnt really easy. So i questioned nick about it and he was like oh that member's situation is different blah blah blah your job is no problem. I as a customer wanted to know my car would be done in the short time i had (this was back in june i wanted to bring the car there friday night and have it be done on sunday. he said that wasnt a problem AT ALL) and he ignored me for 2.5 months. He finally spoke on a post on his facebook because he was selling his car and he was like oh you had a negative attitude towards everything and wanted a contract outta me. i was like GTFO.....So at this time i was like whos going to install my kit (at this time i didnt have the time to do the build because im busy with work and everything and this is my daily, i need it for my commute to work.)

So i found a local performance shop who does dyno tuning and performance install on mustangs camaros everything.
so i asked them if they can install my kit and i was on a tight time limit at the time But after i originally went and inquired me and my girlfriend and my 3 other friends planned a vacation to go to NJ, so im going on vacation 8/2-8/5 so the time limit really changed since i had more time to do the build. The plan for me was to do the build AFTER vacation. But the owner of the shop was like i understand your tight on time and all that because of work but why dont you drop the car off the night of 8/1 before you leave for vacation and we will get started on 8/2. and have the car tuned and dyno'd, safe to drive and ready for pickup when you come back from vacation on sunday 8/5 So i was like hell why not sounds PERFECT!!

So we talked over everything and booked the date.

Heres the list of the parts copied from ZZP's site everything is BRAND NEW im doing stage 2

M62 Supercharger
Custom ZZP 3.1 modular pulley system
LSJ lower intake using Laminova intercooler
LSJ throttlbody
60# injectors
TB adapter harness
MAF extension
Serpentine belt
ZZP intake tube with K&N filter
ZZP Alternator spacer
ZZP idler stand with idler pulley
Valve cover breather
Bosch IC pump & mounting bracket
ZZP S3 heat exchanger
All nuts, bolts, gaskets, fittings, and hoses needed
AEM wideband
Aeroforce Interceptor Scan gauge
Prosport Evo boost gauge
ZZP Tripple Gauge Pillar

im very excited. The shop knows what they are doing. Im setting a goal for 225 hp. so lets see if i reach that goal. Or even a tad more. The car will be dynotuned on a Dynomite dyno Both the shop owners are ASE certified and its a registered NYS repair shop and EVERYTHING. both which i can gaurentee Nick at BYT is NOT. So im feeling really comfortable about the install.

The shop has my kit because i dropped it off the other day so they have all the parts. I only took 2 pics which were of the supercharger and the heat exchanger but they are at my computer at home so i can upload those later.. I feel bad right now posting this thread with NO pics of everything. but build starts in 13 days so bare with me guys.

because im auto. and the instant power from the supercharger for my auto imo would be better than a turbo having to spool.
and at the time when i ordered the kit It was a month after i started my state job, so buying the kit was a huge step foward to me. It was a huge thing i did because its the most expensive thing i have ever bought at one time,. and the sc kit was more in my price range at the time to spend over the turbo kit.

what kind of spark plugs did you get. Everyone says they don't make a colder spark plug for our 2.2's and it drives me crazy

225 whp? well to be quite honest, that may be an accurate guess. The website gives estimated gains but there are a lot of variables. The best answer i can give for a wheel horsepower estimate would be based on the following criteria: supporting mods, quality of installation, and tune. With that said, my closest estimate on your total wheel horse power should be no less than but definitely over nine thousand.

yeah i have te zzp midlength header and downpipe combo and the gmpp exhaust. install is being done by a professional DMV licensed shop. they are a performance shop. ASE certified. They have installed supercharger and turbo kits and have tons of experience. and have worked with ZZP poducta before. its a 2 guy owned shop. the one guy teaches a tuning class at the local community college
