cold air intake problem?

I added cold air intake to my 2005 ls automatic. Now my car jumps into gear very hard and it makes my car jolt. I also have a traction control warning lighting up. Is this because my mass air flow sensor is gone? if so, should i cut the senser out of the plastic of the air box and just plug it in. or should i set up the airbox again and put the ram straight into the airbox?

no. i have my filter right down by my passenger side fog light. the ram leads from there, right up where the silencer once was and right into my air intake system. i took the airbox off. how wrong am i?

The MAF read the amount of air entering your engine. Without it your car has NO IDEA how to meter fuel, sound like a custom intake, put the MAF back.

I'm surprised you couldn't tell your car wasn't screaming, HEY!!! DO YOU THINK I SOUND FUNNY! There's a way to do the custom intake but it takes a little work and a little bit of skill. And destruction of your airbox if you don't have the MAF adapter piping which I think they have now but didn't when I made mine. But yeah, put your stock intake back in immediately if you have nothing to plug your MAF into. And make sure the MAF isn't dirty or you'll get a CEL. I mean don't even touch the metal part. They have cleaner at any auto parts store for pretty cheap. If you want the box mod (not recommended) they have a how to here I think, homemade (I have one and my car runs strong) there should be a how to here as well. I had an honor grad from UTI build mine. But you'll still have to hack apart your box.

What intake do you have OP?

If it doesn't have a slot for the MAF, put your stock back on or the car won't go anywhere.

so i realize im an idiot for not putting the maf back. but can someone tell me whether or not i need the entire airbox set up. can i just cut the plastic out around the maf and plug it in? or do i need to put the cold air intake into the airbox? i dont want to because of the fact i had the ram modified to fit perfectly and know i will have to do figure something else out.

I hacked my airbox apart. If you do that make sure your rubber hose clamps are on tight and secure. But I do plan on buying a shortram in the future.

why is everybody saying save for a real intake? i have a ram with a filter on the end of it((not sure of the name, probably not expensive). i bought it used off somebody, i had it modified to fit my car but i put it straight into my intake rather than into my airbox. Now i have another problem. The MAF is all set up but my car stalls when i let it idle most if the time, but only since i hooked up the MAF again. Somebody help me please.

i just edited my last post because my brother just said i had an aem intake which he is wrong about. im about to go take some pictures and ill post them!

one image shows the entire setup, the other just shows the ram going into the intake system. The arrow shows where my MAF goes. its tucked inside the rubber and the wire itself comes out and is tightened with the hose clamp. im not driving like this it was just my alternative method. my car wont even go like this. what else could i do?
