cold air intake problem?
1. Go to junkyard
2. Find wrecked cobalt
3. Remove airbox from wrecked cobalt
4. Remove your "CAI"
5. Install factory airbox from said wrecked cobalt
6. Do not try to fab up your own parts, pony up for ones made by people who know what they are doing.

I got the best answer! I have a injen cold air intake/ short ram intake for sale! A lot cheaper then new. Take that off buy mine have no issues and no check engine lights and it looks good gave ya a good sound and a little more power! U SHOULD BUY IT! Lol
Not trying to be a dick or anything, but if you're not going to do it right just don't do it. I guess you could ghetto rig the MAF in there somehow. Can't gurantee it will work, and even if it does can't guarantee it won't F something up. Just saying your best bet is to go back to stock and buy one from a reputable dealer. The gains from a CAI on a 2.2 are minimal, esp. without a tune. All it's really doing is adding a wooshing sound.

i appreciate your help. i would have a really boring car if it wasnt for all the guys on this forum. Im just trying to make my car as different from the others as i possibly can. Even though i know there are a lot of guys with cai, there are more without it and i do like the sound. I really do disagree with your opinion on gains though. I couldnt believe the extra boost cai gave my car and it isnt just in my head. Anyway guys, thanks for the help, if you have any other opinions let me know.
Honestly... like these other guys said, get a stock airbox and put it on until you can get an intake, or get one now. Deleting or "rigging-up" a critical sensor is never a good idea. That setup you have is going to cause problems... and I don't want to be there when your service manager sees it. Not trying to be rough on you, but when it comes to this kind of thing you're better off to spend the money and do it right... far less headaches down the road.
Search around on here, there are quite a few intakes available for Cobalts and not all are outrageously expensive.

someone close this thread or introduce this guy to the smack-a-hoe tribe
we gave him an honest answer, i offered him my intake for cheap... still doesnt like it. so the last option is go to HOME DEPOT buy some 3 inch pvc and make your own intake cut a hole in it. put ur maf in and if you want paint it black and use some SENSOR SAFE silicone and seal that sob in so it doesnt leak. go to autozone buy a cheap filer (like the real ones on intakes but cheaper) and some rubber couplers and hose clamps and wah lah! done and you could even paint it what ever color you want
hahaha (i saw some hillbilly make a snorkel for his mud truck this way so i figured id throw it out there) if you do this i am not responsible for any damage done by your errors in making this.
