Couple of Exhaust Questions

I currently have a catless DP, and the SS catback on my car. I've been wanting to go with a more upgraded exhaust system, but they are pricey. I've talked to one of the local performance shops and they said they will build me an exhaust, and use the muffler of my choice, for $150. I also talked to someone else on another form that said they had a shop just run exhaust tubing with no resonator, straight on to the muffler. What would be the pros and cons to this. I'm looking at getting the DC Sports Muffler with a 2.5 inch inlet and a 4in tip, and running 2.5 inch pipe work the exhaust.

this is kinda going out on a limb here.... Does any one with a 2.2 have any video of thier car with a 2.5 in exhaust with a catless dp and no resonator, just a muffler?

Ok so we don't get off track like some people like to do this is what I'm asking.

1) What do you guys think of having an exhaust built by my buddy's local shop using a DC muffler for around $200 instead of buying a $400+ DC Sports exhaust.

2) What are the pros and cons of not having a resonator between the downpipe and the muffler?

honestly if ur running a ss/tc muffler it dosnt have a resonator in the muffler any how so its free flowing adding a muffler with one will actually increase ur back pressure in the exhaust id get a good header before u start tweaking the exhaust so u can have the full set up there and find what u like

il try and get a good video tomorow of how mine sounds because im running catless with the ss/tc muffler

never said i was using an actual ss/tc exhaust i just have the muffler ive changed mine up so many times i would suggest atleast cutting out that first resonator to free up some more flow but be warned it will make it alot louder

ok so its only going to gain a little sound.... I'm already catless, I might be switching to a high flow cat to keep my car legal in va, but i guess if go catted again and run an exhaust with out a resonator, maybe it'll be about the same?

Anyway I'm going to talk to them tomorrow, and find out more about this.

completely off topic.... The questions were,
1) What do you guys think of having an exhaust built by my buddy's local shop instead of buying a $400+ DC Sports exhaust.

2) What are the pros and cons of not having a resonator between the downpipe and the muffler?

Your post about having a catless borla exhaust system on your 2.0 LSJ has nothing to do with my questions for my custom exhaust build for my 2.2 L61. Thanks for trying though.

Having run a 2.5 catless d pipe and a 2.5 megan racing exhaust, I dont recommend running with out a resonator, that setup without the silencer in the muffler was the loudest dam thing ever. I'm talking it hurt my ears in the car going threw a tunnel at wot. And the exhaust had a resonator and a muffler.

Borla is 2.5" GMPP is 2.25". However the Borla one is $700 lol. If your stock the GMPP one will be fine.
