Custom L61 intake manifold fabrication
Well the runners are posing the biggest challenge at this point. I mean they need to be roughly 13", but there isnt that much room in the engine bay. The one thing Im looking at right now as a potential solution is conical shaped runners.
The thing is, long straight runners would have a constant velocity throughout them of the pulses traveling back and for down the length. However, with conical shaped runners, the velocity would decrease as it traveled back toward the plenum and speed up traveling toward the head. So, if its a shorter runner with a conical shape I might be able to shorter the runner length and still be able to keep the same time the pulses come back and reach the intake valves.
Its gonna have to be either the conical shaped runners or Im gonna have to see if I use a bend or two how much effect on the velocity and pulse flows it has. Otherwise, it wont fit in the bay. I started thinking about that part last night.

When you taper the runners you only change the air velocity not the sound velocity and the pulses that your are trying to adjust the length of the runners for are based on the speed of sound.
God forbid somebody wants to try and do something different. If only because they enjoy it. I love the way most on this site are so concerned with what others do with their time and money.
Good luck to you OP. Have fun with it.

In for giggles. Theres several reasons why no one has made a bespoke NA manifold for the Cobalts, virtually all of them have been touched upon already, I dont see this attempt overcoming them either, best of luck though, and Ill take one at the right price point
Also Post#10 is new drinking game. Every time "yall" is written you need to drink.

Ok guys, just so y'all don't think I've flaked out on this, I've put this on hold for a little bit cause my dad was just put in the hospital due to major heart problems. So once I get that squared away and him taken care of I'll get started. The.project isn't off, just on hold for right now.
