Did i screw up my car!?
I was racing a z24 cavilier and when i was shifting from 3rd to 4th i slipped into 2nd.
It grinded the clutch pretty bad. Any ways after that the way my exhaust sounded changed. The sound is similar to when i had a civic and the muffler got a small hole in it.
I checked for holes though and i couldnt find any.
But there is definately a change in the way my exhaust sounds.

if it runs the same, my bet would be somewhere on the exhuast. jumping to that high of rpms probably put a lot of pressure through the exhuast and split it or blew out the gasket.

Thats what I was going to say.
What exactly happened?? You say you were in 3rd, went to go to 4th, and hit 2nd instead. Did it actually engage 2nd gear, or did the grinding prevent you from shifting into it? What RPM were you at in 3rd when you shifted?? And if you did manage to get it into second, did you let out the clutch at all once it was engaged?? If so, the RPM's would have burried the tach well into the redline (depending where you were in 3rd when you shifted) and probably damaged your engine severely.
My friend did the same thing in his RSX, he was at the top of 3rd at 90MPH, went to go to 4th, and hit 2nd instead. Screwed up the head pretty bad, bent the valves, and damaged a couple pistons. Hopefully that didn't happen to yours though, it just depends how high the RPM's went after you dropped in from 3rd-2nd.
Good luck.

the car drives almost exactly the same, it just sounds different. I also notice a loss in torque/horsepower.
Im thinking there is a small hole in the piping somewhere. Im not sure. But i took the car to like 100 last night and again it drives fine. But definately a difference in sound and a loss in pressure.
Im not sure if it actually went into 2nd it just grinded, but there was definately alot of pressure.
Im going to get it checked on monday!

im not a great mechanic or anything, but i would check the plugs, maybe one or 2 fried? its easy to check and it could be causing mis-firing sounding like a holey exhaust?

With my Cobalt, after I broke it in for about 2000 miles, I started to give a little RPM and the exhaust changed note, got a little raspier. And it got gutsy... more so than when i v bought it. My friends SS/SC did the same thing. I've overrevved my 2.2L a couple of times, never seemed to bother it none. Mostly, mine was at the top of 3rd gear, I wasn't really paying attention passing someone and had it cut out. I don't think the CEL will come on if you over rev it.. Mine never has any FWD Chevys I've owned. I HAVE HAD A PLUG WIRE COME OFF at about 5700RPM on my old 2.2L OHV engine... a whole bunch of warning lights came on... looked like a disco on my dash.
My friend Elroy had a 92 Cavalier Z24 with the 3.1L/5speed... racing a GTP Grand Prix one night, he went to shift from 5th into 4th at about 90 and missed... tagged second... the clutch only came out for a split second, but it was a enough. The car seemed to run ok until he got into the village and the stoplights; It had a weird miss at idle, not anything serious, just a weird pop... Bent a valve. Sure enough, he did. So, that was an excuse to piece together a 3.1L MPFI/3100SFI hybrid... What an animal!!!
I have missed (lack of a better term) on the way from 5th into 3rd passing someone, it gave a wicked grind, even with the clutch in. After rereading your post, I'm not sure what you did to this car.
