they also told me that they make their own calibrations by duplicating your stock cali, then save that to a file, erase your computer, make changes to the cali they saved, save the changes as seperet file incase they cant get it to calibrate right they can return it to stock.
OBDII (1996-up)
There are quite few OBD-2 custom tuning software packages on the market, depending on what vehicle you have. Most of which can be found by a simple search on the internet

if you click each link it tells you how to copy your ECM/PCM and make your own calibrations. The programs used here let you custom addjust what ever you want to your PCM. look at it this way, you will want to copy the original PCM calibrations because if you jack up custom tuning you will have to reload the stock calibration. They do recomend letting a shop that knows how to custom tune a computer to do it because it is easy to mess up the programing.
It's not a problem of adjusting the computer. It's because the computers in our cars in encoded. And therefore you cant read it to tune it. Once the encription is broken then thats a whole new story.

i miss the old days, no ecm's = easy tuning. but the ones you can tune it does make it easy. taking the computer bs out all together would still be my #1 vote
now that i think of it, can a gm tech change the vin on an ecm if we grease the wheels?? or can they do it at all? a guy i know works as a tech at the dealership i take my car to i was wondering if he could change it

you could do it, GM racing team has done it for Connely, i think thats his name, i have it linked up in my myspace page. anyway, that cobalt is all stand alone everything, twin charged, running 6.69x @205.x MPH and beat out 2 new body GTO's that ran matching 6.71x times in the 1/4. the artical has Pro Stock in the title.
