Downpipe Flex Joint Question

I recently bought the zzp flex joint (2.5 in) to fix my lsj downpipe. When i took the joint and pipe to my local muffler shop they didn't want to install it because of the slight bend that is below the flange (exhaust manifold side). They said it wouldn't fit correctly on my car if they installed the flex joint. What do you all think?

For starters the flex pipe part of a lsj downpipe is 3 inch not 2.5, if they said they can't weld in a flex pipe you really need to try a different shop. My buddy did it and he's by no means a pro welder.

The shop I took my car to said my Downpipe didn't fit and needed modification so I had them do it and it fit great, i drove with it on for a day not fitting right and the car rattled and vibrated like **** and you could feel it in your feet, might be the same issume with you

They said that it was possible, but because of the slight bend before the cat they were conscerned with how the downpipe would fit and the stress on the new flex joint. I even told them to bend up a new pipe from the top of the cat, but they didn't seem like they wanted to do that.

Is this a STOCK DP or catless (aftermarket)?

If catless aftermarket, why not simply put on a NEW DP? They're not that expensive and you will avoid problems like this.

Its a stock lsj downpipe, and i wouldn't want to go catless because i'm not a fan of how they sound. But i think i have an idea of how i'm gonna fix it.

You might wanna check junk yards then..plenty of Cobalts around. You can prolly get a low mi wreck too. You can now go online and do a search of junk yards.

Straight Pipe

Just do it yourself with some pipe. Here's some pics of mine. No Cat or resonator on mine, straight pipe from Header back to muffler.
