Dyno tomorrow
since I have free access to a dyno because of progam here at MSU Mankato, i'll be dynoing my car tomorrow. it's completely bone stock, just doing it for fun. ya'll can guess if you want, i don't really care what it puts down, but i'll post it up here tomorrow or the next day.

Doubtful thats what I dyno'd at with a Dyno Jet.
I say 115hp/120tq
Let me know if you can get an accurate tach reading cause mine kept freaking out so they couldnt pull my torque

just got done, it was a blast! it was doing a lab assignment for my buddy so we tested the speedometer and ****. then we did the WOT test and before you question the results, keep in mind this is a Mustang dyno, so we're dealing with wheel horsepower. here's what came up with:
and to answer your question yellowlt, we just hook up the rpm reader to the wires going into the coils and it seemed to read perfectly. also, good guess, pretty damn close.

116.6 WHP @ 5000 rpm
125.1 WTQ @ 4000 rpm
i'll scan the sheet or take a picture in a little bit. and to answer your question yellowlt, we just hook up the rpm reader to the wires going into the coils and it seemed to read perfectly. also, good guess, pretty damn close.

That's pretty standard. Plus a Mustang dyno gives you real-world numbers not ego numbers like a DynoJet. So 116 would be what you'd get out of it on the street. Honestly not bad for a baseline economy car. Still more than base Civics and such.

lol, true.... but still depressing alley...
I mean I came from a V8, 4 barrel carb, grand prix sport.
Time to throw on some more bolt-ons and get some kick out of my baby.
I want my car to make me

exactly, what do people expect out of them, these aren't built to be sports cars. the person who was helping was actually really impressed. he said i was the first 4-banger he had seen without mods to get over 100.

sp at 20% loss, does that mean the SS versions are getting about 145 to the wheels? SC's about 190?
Just trying to get a feel for where we stand. Ive driven an SS nice and aggressive like and thats kinda what im going for with mine

SS/SC's get about 200 at the wheels on a Mustang Dyno
2.0's were underrated HP wise, 2.2s and 2.4s are almost dead on.

My estimate on the 2.4s might be slightly high on a Mustang dyno, but those numbers should be about close. The underrating of the SS/SC throws things a little our of wack, but you should see about a 20hp difference between the 2.2 and 2.4 and about a 75-80 hp difference between the 2.2 and the 2.0.

Skip the power and build the suspension. If you can be competitive in a lower-powered class, you get a better PAX. Adding power bumps you classes and hurts your PAX index, so you end up hurting yourself.
My ex boyfriend would absolutely DOMINATE week in and week out. In a Civic that put exactly 67 horsepower to the ground. As an added "f-u" to the "power power power" people, he'd tape his dyno sheet to the car for all to see.
Get the car to handle where you want it to FIRST. Keep it on street tires until you learn the car. When you're maxed on street tires, buy R-compounds and do the same thing. When you're getting EVERYTHING you can out of the car, THEN go for the power.

Advice if you REALLY want to get the most out of auto-x?
