E-brake and knob

Ok so, I'm an automatic 07 LT, we all know that there is some kind of sensor or something that won't let you shift gears on a auto without having the brake pedal pushed down. I was wondering if there is a way to disable this function or if any manuel knobs will even fit on ours.

Also, the e-brake handle looking to get one I found some cheapies on ebay would just like to know if they really fit.

Thanks

For the shifter question, technically you can use a manual knob, it just takes a little custom fab. Refer to the how to on removing the OEM knob(twist the chrome piece, remove hex) and you are left with a hollow pipe, you will need to make a custom cylinder that has a plunger that pushes the shift release(in the center of the pipe), extend enough to mount the knob to, and tight enough tolerances it won't just fall out. You could also mount a boot to it to cover the pipe and hold the knob on, to shift press the brake pedal, push down on the knob, shift as desired. I made one but reverted back to stock and sold my custom bracket and cylinder.

Here is mine. I found it online on a forum. Pretty sure i'm the only one with a cobalt like it, but it was also a stupid amount of money.

It's got a sleeve that goes on first, then bushing that clamps down to the rod and then a spring that fits on the inside so it 'plunges' like said before.
