E3 Diamond Fire spark plugs????
E3 Diamond Fire spark plugs????
I have a stock 2007 Chevy Cobalt Lt with the 2.2 liter four speed automatic. I was wondering if actaully puting E3 diamond Fire spark plugs on my car would do any good or not for it? Also I have had something happen about two time now. I will lose traction and the rpms will go up than my tires will get traction again. Than the rpms will drop and I will have to let off the gas and then hit the gas again to get more rpms. It happens pretty fast so thats the best I can describ it. I would like to know if I should take it in I still have warrenty.
I don't have traction control. I didn't buy one with traction control. I'm worried the clutch is slipping
Yea I don't have traction control as a opion on my car.

There is no reason. No power. Nothing.
Your other problem: Traction control, like everyone else said.

Niether do I. I dont even have ABS.
Mine has kinda the same issue, I will be mid burnout and as it tops first and shifts into second it will just sit there at about 3k in second not accellerating, not spinning, not doing much of anything until I lift off and get back on it. I have already trained myself to lift when it is about to shift.

I would have to say that all lt cobalts do have traction control and that is probably causing the problems, but it might also be the tranny slipping, just get your dealer to take a look at it, as for the e3's they are a great plug, but they don't make much of a difference on the 2.2, I've seen hp gains on my trans am from the plugs but not on my cobalt, so I think your good with stock plugs unless you just like spending money

Well if him and I are having the same issue and I dont have TCS/ABS and it obviously isnt the trans slipping since the rpms dont move I strongly doubt it is TCS even if his car has it(not all LT's came with it).
i dunno whats worse. the L61 forums or the civic forums.

Don't laugh at the poor kid, teach him. Obviously nobody has taken the time to teach him about cars...rather than say something stupid, help him out, correct his thinking so he doesn't become a "ricer".
I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about with the tranny, but if you positively do not have traction control, then I think it is something with the BCM to prevent tranny failure as mine does something similar to what you are saying, but I don't think it's a problem, just a safety feature for the tranny. I wouldn't worry about it.

A few notes:
1) Stick with the OEM AC Delco Professional Platnum plugs unless you're heavily boosted. Those are the most problem free plugs you can run in GM 4 bangers. GM 4 cyl engines don't take kindly to many plugs.
2) If you do need to go to colder plugs, NGK's.
The Diamondfires and other similar plugs are manily marketing. They don't work better than standard plugs and in some cases, suck.

Now I'm not too familiar with the plugs either, but does NGK make anything equal to the AC DELCO that is cheaper price wise and just as good as OEM or just stick to the AC DELCO's? I'm going to be picking up a spare set to have on hand for down the road when I do need to replace mine (I only have 38k miles on my car and if it stops raining this week, I'll check mine out and make sure they are looking good and gapped properly).
E3s are ****. i had them on a ford taurus. i was 16 when i had the car and like the OP i wasnt born with infinite knowledge of cars and bought them. they worked for about 100 miles then they started getting sparratic. finally went with auto light coppers and she ran better then ever
