Engine ticking noise.
I dont know if its normal for these engine...
my gf sunfire have a 2.2 L ecotec engine. same one as the cobalts.
its a 2004.
engine has 100 000 +- km's
is it normal to hear a "ticking" at idle.
this engine was really quiet and started ticking a couple k's km ago.
should i have this checked or its normal
i understand that there is over 100 000 km on the engine and its maybe normal..
anyone having the same sound?

i puts a bomb in ur engine
happens to mine too. Didnt used to happen. I think its the timing chain tensioner personally.
06 ion its not the injectors. Thats really only the DI motors (LNF only i guess).
jnicks the ticking after the car is turned off is your exhaust/cat converter cooling down. Its not in the engine bay.

It can really be the injectors?! i've been researching for hours and hours, so long my brain hurts from all the horrifying possibilities i've read. My ticking is coming from the right side of the engine, possibly on the front(hard to pin point exactly where) i've read it could be the chain tensioner, valves being too loose, spark plugs being loose, valves sticking, the sc coupler and the list goes on.... my very first thought when i heard it was the injectors, but then i put my hear up to the engine and the sc and i hear more noise in the sc at idle so now i'm thinking its the coupler... im driving myself insane!!
