EVAP line and boost. Need help

Hi people,

were do you run the EVAP line to when you turbocharge your 2.2 ecotec?
Can it handle boost? (so back into the intake manifold?)
Or does it needs to be in the intakepipe?

I'm not familiar with this thing or its operation and ca't find the answer after some serious search, so please help me on this on

Thanx,
Daniel

Just to make sure..

Do all you turbo guys run it back into the intake pipe? Is this pulling enough vacuum for the EVAP system?

Some one on another (my local Dutch) forum suggested to use a 1-way-valve and back into the intake-manifold. This sounds like a correct setup to me, but back into the intake pipe is a more simple setup.

Thank you.

Do not move the EVAP line!! The only tube that should go before the turbo is the PCV hose. (PCV port pictured below)

The PCV valve is designed to relive any pressure differences between the block and the outside atmosphere. If this line is exposed to high pressure or vacuum you run the risk of dislodging not only a turbos oil seal but also damaging any seal (main seal most commonly) that keeps oil from seeping past the back of the crank and the block. The EVAP system is a completely different story. There is a canister that accumulates fuel vapor that needs to be burned off. The only way for the canister to move the fumes is the engines vacuum. The PCM controls when this occurs and will never expose the system to anything short of a medium vacuum. This is done by the use of a purge solenoid. (pictured below)

This line must be exposed to engine vacuum/boost. The computer will only cycle the solenoid under correct circumstances (i.e. never boost).
Good luck with your build!!

Thnx for the reply

I installed a one-way valve in the evap-line, so all should be OK now.

Solonoid- Line - valve - line - Saab Intake Manifold.

Added a nipple for the brake booster as well. Nipple below if connected to the EVAP-line.

Grtz,
Daniel
