Guys an exhaust header (a poor make one) costs MINIMUM of $1000 here ranging to $2000 lol.

Ive seen the OBX stainless items in ebay and other places. Thing is I'm not 100% sure what angle the manifold sits.

If you can visualise with me.
The manifold comes out of the head, goes through 90 degrees and goes into a collector and then the down pipe hooks up and carries on parralel to the block till it gets to the cat blah blah.

seems to NOT go through 90 degrees.... Am I right or wrong?
Any pics of a header mounted to an engine out of the car?

 

that looks like a pacesetter header you would need a modified downpipe to fit that. why not just get a ss/sc manifold or the gm one

Just for the record, the engine and header arent in a cobalt... meaning modifications to any part acquired... unless there is a short 4 branch manifold that fits exactly where the stock one does....

i know hahn and cobalt addiction have ones that fit directly into the stock space

 

all the picture seem to show the headers NOT going through a full 90 degrees and they exit sort of horizontally.... booooooo.
Might get a cheap mild steel manifold to see exactly what the difference is though

thats the stock one I have.... you can see it does a 90degee turn and exits straight down.

 

Yeah, our stock manifolds only have about a 50 degree turn in them, not enough for what you are looking for. Get a flange from Crate Engine Depot and have one custom made, it will be easier than trying to modify an existing header.

 

do the pacer manifolds have a similarly shallow angle on them to meet with the cat pipe?

getting a manifold custom made will cost big cash too I need to investigate more.

 

we need a bit of info from you...is this in the roadster looking car you posted before..is it front or rear engine, FWD or RWD?

 

yeah its the roadster in the garage..

Mid engine Rear Drive (ok rear engine as technically the centre line of the engine is infront of the main centre line of the gearbox lol)

The "trunk" is fouled when a Tsudo Weapon R ram horn style manifold is fitted.

the angle is a bit naff on the pics but this http://www.2bular.com/news.htm is the system where the stock header bolts too (top of the flexi)and does a 90degree turn to hit the head.

I dont mind having to make a pipe to include the cat to then connect up at the U bend before the silencer.

 

i would get a shorty header from hahn or Cobalt addiction as it bolts to the stock exhaust system in the same space the stock manifold sits in

 

The hahn shorty on their site only appeared to go through the 50degrees.. unless I was looking at the wrong part.

under the heat shield there is where the cast iron one would sit..you can get the rough angle off of it

the Pacesetter follows the same angle as the shorty, it is just longer.

 

looks like its a mod to a mild steel pacesetter to see if its any good then...

 

sorry their have some questions regarding a 2.2 if you get the zzp header is their any modification needed for it to fit a 2.2 and is it the best one out their ? is the zzp downpipe better than the cobalt-addiction downpipe ?
